My Festive Roommate
Part 7 of My Roommate, a Fluffy JensenxReader Drabble Series
Does it make me a bad person that I’m kind of glad that Y/N isn’t close with her family? I get to have her around for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. At least, I think she’s around here somewhere. I haven’t seen her since we arrived a few hours ago.
“Jared was looking for you,” Gen says as she steps up to my side, wrapping her arm around me in a half hug. There are so many people in their house for this party that I haven’t even seen Jared at all since Y/N and I arrived.
I throw my arm around her shoulders and give her a quick kiss on the side of her head. “I’ll go find him. This place looks great, by the way. You always outdo yourself decorating.”
“Thanks, Jay.” Gen beams up at me and kisses my cheek before pushing me away. “Go find my husband and make sure he isn’t too drunk. I think he’s in the kitchen. At least, he was a few minutes ago.”
I make my way through the crowd, stopping to chat with friends occasionally. By the time I make it to the kitchen, Jared is nowhere to be found, but Y/N is leaning against the counter, talking with my mom. I walk over. Jared can wait a few minutes for whatever he needed me for.
“Hey Jay,” Y/N greets, a little more subdued than usual. There’s a hint of… something unusual behind her eyes. Something that I’m not used to seeing on Y/N. It takes me a minute to place it.
Nervous. She’s nervous.
“You okay?” I’m barely aware of my mom slipping away. All of my attention is completely focused on my girl right in front of me.
She nods, takes a breath, and smiles. “Yeah. I’m good. Just… C’mere.”
Her hand grabs mine and she leads me through the few people milling about the kitchen until we step outside into the slight chill of the Texas December air, though it’s practically paradise compared to Vancouver. In the back of my mind, I realize that it’s odd that there’s no one else on the porch, but mostly I’m focused on Y/N.
She’s acting really weird. Weirder than normal, for My Weird Roommate. Facing me head on, she sucks her bottom lip between her teeth. That’s her tell for when she’s unsure of something. What could she—
Then she looks up and my eyes follow hers until I see a sprig of green leaves hanging from the porch overhang, tied with a red ribbon.
“Mistletoe,” she barely whispers. Her eyes are locked back onto mine and I think I might just explode. My fingers tighten around hers, tugging her closer. The last three years have been building up to this moment, I just couldn’t see it until now.
Softly, I reach up with my other hand and trail my fingers over her cheek. Jesus, the way she’s looking up at me. It’s enough to drive a man crazy.
“Kiss me, Jensen.”
My Stinky Roommate may have forgotten my present back in Canada, but Christmas was still so magical. When they say everything is bigger in Texas, they aren’t kidding! Food, trees, laughter, holiday spirit… I couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas! Nothing too embarrassing to tell about Jensen, unfortunately. At least, not that I can remember… Seems like there’s more alcohol in Texas too!
Oh, and My Stinky Roommate is a phenomenal kisser, btw ;)
