Daily D&D Monster: Olentzero, Mythical Giant
Up in the hills of Basque Country, this guy comes out on December 24th to hand out presents to all the little kiddies. Some of his presents might seem odd, but he's been handing them out for centuries and he ain't about to change his M.O.
EDIT: Yeah, it’s wrong. And kinda shit to be honest. I would highly recommend avoiding this and going to somewhere like here for actual Basque folklore.
In Basque mythology, the jentil were a race of giants known for building neolithic monuments and inventing metallurgy. They are said to have lived alongside the Basque people in the pre-Christian age.
The jentil are described as tall enough to stand in the ocean and throw rocks from one mountain to another. They were covered in hair, and weighed over half a ton. They are said to have retreated underground when Christ was born, with the famous giant Olentzero returning every Christmas to bring gifts to children.
