Last night, I saw one of the most inspiring dance shows ever (of course it's different from Pina) and I think it's time for me to get back on my unfinished projects and wear my thinking cap.
Jerome Bel's The Show Must Go On pushes the audience to be self conscious and remember their presence inside the theater.
The Show Must Go On examines the relationship between art and life, explores the clash of fine art and entertainment and challenges audience expectations.
In a minimal set up characteristic of Jérôme Bel’s work, a DJ plays clips of popular songs from past eras to more recent chart-toppers while dancers literally follow the instructions of the song lyrics. Surprisingly thought-provoking and poignant, it’s a show about how a choreographer uses signs to stir up emotions, evoke associations and create meaning as a dialogue with the imagination of the audience.

A mais importante afirmação sobre a dança,
levantada pelo coreógrafo Jérôme Bel:
"A dança não é interpretar. É ser você". Véronique
Doisnou (2004), bailarina da Ópera de Paris.
Em uma linguagem que lembra os “reality
shows”, o coreógrafo Jérôme Bel desconstrói
a imagem do glamour da dança e o mito da
bailarina.
