It says; The honor granted Hadrat Pir Muhammad Nureddin Qaddas Allahu sirrahu-(may allah sanctify his secret) was announced three hundred years previously (before he was born) in the Tabaqat al-Awliya’ that had been read by Molla Efendi. This book, Ranks of Saints, was written by Shaykh Imam Ahmad ibn `Uthman Sharnubi, the khalifa and son-in-law if the Qutb Hadrat Pir Ibrahim Dusuqi Qaddas Allahu sirrahu-(may allah sanctify his secret) A handwritten copy is in Fatih Library (#3286). The section in question reads: “Sayyid Nureddin Jerrahi is from Istanbul and will appear in the year 1115. He will live forty four years. One of his miracles is that he will see his station in heaven while in this world, and will enter Paradise directly upon his demise. The prayers of those who visit him and of those who pray in his presence are accepted by Allah”. On a Monday evening, ‘Id al-Adha, in 1133 Hijrah (c. July 28, 1721), at the age of forty four years, he left this world to meet his Lord. He is buried with his head at the feet of his mother, according to the hadith (saying of the Prophet Muhammed, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) that says: “Paradise is under the feet of the mothers”. The founder of the Khalwatiyyah-Jarrahiyyah Order, Pir Nur al-din al-Jarrahi may his soul be sanctified, was born in 1089/1678. Through his father Sayyid `Abd Allah ibn Muhammad Husam al-Din, he was a descendent of `Ubayd ibn Jarrah, one of the ten companions whose inclusion in paradise, according to tradition, was announced in this world by the Prophet peace be upon him. both is parents were Sayyid Hadrat `Ubaydah ibn Jarrah Al-Jarrahi or Al-Jerrahi. Turkey today is the Khalwatiyyah-Jarrahiyyah, which has also spread to the West during the past few years. This order branched off from the Khalwatiyyah Order (Helvetiyye in Turkish), established by the Persian Sufi `Umar Khalwati, who died in tabriz in 800/1397 So in Arabic its Khalwatiyyah-Jarrahiyyah; Khalwati arabic in and in Turkish its Halveti Khalwati = Halveti like in Urdu Wudhu and Wuzu Khalwatiyyah-Jarrahiyyah or Halveti-Jerrahi its the same thing. Unique to the Jarrahi Tariqah is their many-faceted dhikr, which originated as particular gifts given in recognition of Pir Nur al-Din’s station. It is said traditionally that the blue post upon which the shaykh of the principal dergah sits was a gift of Hadrat Huda`i of the Jalwati branch of the Khalwatiyyah. The part of the shaykh’s turban that hangs on the left side of the taj was a gift from Shaykh `Abdal-Qadir Jilani qaddas allahu sirrahu, from Shaykh Ahmad Rifa`i qaddas allahu sirrahu sent the metal top of the flag and the qiyam dhikr. Jalal (power) came from Shaykh Ibrahim Dasuqi qaddas allahu sirrahu and Jamil (Beauty) came from Shaykh Ahmad Badawi qaddas allahu sirrahu, who also sent a particular dhikr movement known as the bedevi topu. From the Naqshbandis came the recitation of the Qur’an during the dhikr. Shaykh Shams al-din Siwasi qaddas allahu sirrahu sent the first chant sung in the dhikr and Shaykh Wafa, the repetitions done during the final circumnabulations. from Mawlana Jalal al-din Rumi qaddas allahu sirrahu came the Sultan Walad Walk and from Hadrat Sunbul Sinan qaddas allahu sirrahu the ism, or name, Ya Hayy, which is repeated as part of the dawran or circular movement in the dhikr. Within the Jarrahi tariqah can be found essential elements of many different sufi orders.
