July is International Zine Month!
To celebrate, we are sharing two issues of Scratch, a zine made by and for LGBTQ+ youth as part of Project Q, a development program for LGBTQ+ youth at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center that fosters community through social events, community discussions, seminars, and partnerships with other community organizations. These excerpts come from issues 4 and 5 of Scratch, which were both published in 2006 and center on the experiences of LGBTQ+ youth in Milwaukee.
Issues 5 and 6 of Scratch can be found in Box 4 of the Jerry Johnson Collection of Wisconsin Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Ephemera, 1978-2006 at the UWM Archives.
You may also want to visit our sibling department UWM Special Collections @uwmspeccoll, they have a fabulous Zine collection!

Twins Rick and Cami, and their best friend Roxy, as teenagers!
Oh, and Jerry is here too, I guess.
❗❗❗ Important Announcement!
So I know I said I was tired of legacies, but I just couldn’t stay away from them for long. I thought it would be a nice idea to start a new legacy! I totally won’t get burnt out, don’t worry about me! :))
And who’s my founder, may you ask? The one and only Gerald “Jerry” Johnson! He’s a very interesting and deep character, not to mention the incredible genetics he would pass to the next generation - the legacy requirement is for all the heirs to inherit Jerry’s face.
This legacy was so exciting that I’ve already played through the whole generation of it, I’m on a roll! Jerry got married to a lovely lady named Geraldine (they’re now my OTP, the greatest soulmates to ever exist in my game), and they had three kids: Gerald Jr, Geraldine Jr (both nicknamed Jerry), and Rick, named after Jerry’s best friend Rick (who reconnected with Jerry by apologizing for ditching him from his band, and they automatically became besties)
CLICK HERE to see a spoiler of Rick, our next heir. You must absolutely check it out!
When a fellow crewmate shows... a little too much affection towards you
Jerry: Roxy, can I team up with you?
Roxanne: No, Jerry. No teaming up. It’s Among Us, for god’s sake! Everyone’s on their own here, and there’s statistically a high chance that one of us is an impostor.
Jerry: But I'd never kill you! And I trust you not to kill me, either. We’re friends, right? Riiiiiight, my sweet pea?
Roxanne: Dude, what are you on about? I wish I was impostor, I’d kill you in a heartbeat and feel no remorse over it.
Jerry: You’re breaking my heart, Roxy! You know how I feel about you, and this is how you choose to play? Listen carefully. Listen, just listen. This is the sound of my heart breaking. Hear?
Roxanne: Rick? I beg you, please, inform Jerry he’s playing Among Us and this isn’t Tinder. Though, with these tactics he wouldn’t have much luck on there either...
There is 1 Impostor among us
Jerry: Ugh, guys, your settings suck. That’s not how real gamers play! Next time I’ll just find another lobby, there are thousands waiting for me!
Roxanne: Rick, why did you even invite him to play with us?
Rick: I didn’t invite him! He just kind of… invited himself? I mean… This is Jerry we’re talking about.
Roxanne: This is going to be a looong game. Anyway, Cami is kinda sus. She’s just been smiling the whole time and hasn’t said a word.
Camilla: I'm trying to scare Jerry off with my positive aura.
