Night Slaves by Jerry Sohl $4 Fawcett Gold Medal Books (1965) Jerry Sohl was a writer for Twilight Zone back in the day and this novel has the feel of long Twilight Zone episode. This is one of those novels that isn’t exactly Science Fiction but not exactly mainstream either. Psychiatrist Matt Cassel takes on a strange case involving a patient, Clay Howard, who claims to have experienced alien contact with a woman he calls Naillil. Clay’s wife, Marjorie, fears for Clay’s sanity and life. Dr. Cassel is falling in love with Marjorie. Meanwhile Clay is planning a desperate escape from this world to be with the unearthly Naillil. It all sounds crazy, and it should be, yet Jerry Sohl keeps the pace tight while leaving you wondering if Clay is the victim of psychosis, or really is telling the truth about the Naillil.
