for the record I have no guarantee that Jesse will perform. There is a Käärijä gig on 31.07, at midnight, far beyond Oulu - it's a many hours drive from Helsinki.
If I had a guarantee, I would book a plane and hotel right now to take a chance to listen to Jesse's singing. Well ok I wouldn't anyway because I have a family event on that weekend, ugh
In any case, I think it's a very nice opportunity to experience music theatre - especially when your hobby budget is low, as usual ticket prices for music theatre are very very high. But at this festival, you get it for free. Ain't that a fair price!
ok ok i just want to create hype for the show so maybe someone reading this will go and tell me how it was 🥺 because I can't go 😔✊
Ok this is everything I learned from insta. Here is another post. It's so exciting and it will even be available to see for free! Hear me? For freee!!!
So, there is a summer musical workshop organized by University of the Arts Helsinki, where Jesse took part in June (based on his insta stories) - they worked on bringing a completely new musical into life. The musical is called “Kenen maailma muuttuu tänään”, it is written by Elina Aalto and Ulrikka Heikinheimo; during the workshop with a group of participants (this includes Jesse!), director Petrus Kähkönen and pianist Antti-Jussi Taskinen were fine-tuning and polishing the musical elements to make it work on stage as best as possible. (This is all very new to me because i have no idea how stage productions come to be)
A result of this workshop is a “demo” of the show, and it will be showcased during Helsinki's Festival of Music Theatre (Musiikkiteatterifestivaali) held from 30.07 to 01.08 at Helsinki City Theatre.
Specifically, as per the event's website: the musical demo will be performed on Friday, 31.07, at 16:00 local time, in Studio Elsa within the Helsinki City Theatre, address Ensi linja 2; the show will last 90 minutes. There are no tickets sold because the event is free of charge!!!! Everyone can come and see!!!! Do you get it!!
There are also three other musicals showcased during the festival, one of them in English, and all of them similarly have free entry. The other three titles are work-in-progress by smaller groups. The description mentions the opinion of the audience will be taken into consideration to improve the shows, or something like that; I assume they will observe people's genuine reactions, which would explain why they don't charge for entry - they might want as big audience as possible.
So to sum up:
Four unfinished musicals will be performed for free at Helsinki City Theatre during Music Theatre Festival 30.07-01.08
Jesse Voss is most likely going to perform in one of the musicals, titled “Kenen maailma muuttuu tänään”, on Friday 31.07 at 16:00 local time, as he took part in the workshop in June
I am very excited and i want this to be heard
