Dear little me, @survivorloveletter ✨
Remember you were not born a survivor. Attachment wounds and sexual trauma come from being in relationship with other humans. Hurt people have hurt you and taken things from you but you MUST remember the pain did not originate from you, no matter how many times you are gas lit and shamed for your brilliant and valid rage. It is this world and all it’s toxic masculinity that has to soften into the love and accountability that it is so afraid to feel. You will find the rest of us sibling survivors scattered across the night sky—our little lights guiding you when there is only darkness inside you. This darkness is an illusion. Your heart is bright enough to gravitate its own solar system. I’ve watched your Friday nights become grieving rituals for the safe place your body used to be. I’ve watched you water your succulents with your own tears. No one tells you how brave it is to allow yourself to feel through every inch of your suffering, but today—I will. You are not defined by the assaults and violence that happened to you. You are not defined by the betrayals you’ve experienced. The Earth was not defined by the asteroid that struck it but rather by the 65 million years of life that came after. You’re a brave molecule in that cosmos. Our healing is slow but revolutionary. You will rise from your own ashes. Your tears will flood the patriarchy and channel new rivers. You will open your new eyes for the first time and witness the stars, and their light will discover home upon your skin.
Dear survivor, we are all around you. The galaxy is yours. — jess X. Snow #survivorloveletter ❤️💧🦋
Today we are flooding the internet with love letters to survivors of sexual assault and using the hashtag #SurvivorLoveLetter. Whether you’re an ally or a survivor, we encourage you to join us and let all survivors know: not only are you believed, not only are you supported, you are loved.
Beautiful and meaningful work done by @jessxsnow Animals don't give a f*;k whose lives where and what policies are in place. Humans have done the Earth a disservice by these imaginary boundaries and hurt all its inhabitants in the process. Including us. "Migration is natural" No human is illegal Borders aren't real @jessxsnow also did a DOPE mural at the building we are starting to build out our new facilities at in Rochester Ny for @walltherapyny check it out and all the other artists that contribute to that amazing program. #wearemammals #dontyouforgetit #earthfirst #jessxsnow #justseedsartist #artivism #love #nobordersnowalls
JESS X SNOW is a queer Asian-American artist, filmmaker and poet. After the Cultural Revolution, her parents immigrated from Nanchang, China to Canada, but left at the age of 7 and migrated to the United States with her mother. After the divorce of her parents, she developed a stutter which she overcame through her discovery of art, poetry and film.
Through film, mural-making, poetry and youth art education, she is working toward a future where migrant and indigenous youth of color see themselves as whole and heroic, on the big screen and the city walls.#WomensHistoryMonth #AsianAmericanHistory #AAPI #IAmAnImmigrant#StayLoud
#Repost @jessxsnow ・・・ If the Earth 🌏 has been brown, black, multi-colored, queer and woman and indigenous and abloom for 4.5 billion years then what does that mean for this thousand year old infant white patriarchal empire? ✨🌻🔥 #ecofeminism #painting #artistsoninstagram #jessxsnow #womensmarch
I wrote an article for about my journey becoming a woman of color working in public art. Public art and women and trans-led community mural projects that unveil our stories on a monumental scale have the power to inspire the next generation of girls to grow up without the fear that has silenced so many women before them.
#Repost @jessxsnow with @get_repost ・・・ 🌈 I made this downloadable poster featuring the magical resistance of queer diasporic people of color because I felt like many of our stories and vision are being erased from the art currently being made about migration. The words are by @thesoniag ft the queer diasporic love of @thesoniag & @brownroundboi ❤️🌈 My queerness and my migration are not mutually exclusive. Families of all across the gender spectrum and of all orientations are separated and affected by borders. Support the migrant artists and writers in your communities. Support the queer artists. There are a lot of us out there who are not being given the spotlight right now even though we have spent lifetimes making a body of work about our personal and community migrant experiences literally to heal ourselves and our communities. We have been creating worlds without borders long before protests became cool and since the day our migration and queer journeys began. 🌈 Download this and many more protest posters at: www.jessxsnow.com/protest-art , I’d love to see you take this to the streets. ✊🏽✊ prints coming soon 🌈 #abolishice #familiesbelongtogether #jessxsnow #soniaguinansaca #brownroundboi #queer #queerasinabolishice #queerart #pride
