Jesus Can Do Anything!

One of the great privileges of my work here is my opportunity to read a story to Joyland every Monday morning. I’m pretty sure I enjoy the books more than the kids do. As you have probably heard me say before, I am often struck by the powerful and yet simple truths revealed in children’s songs and books. On this particular day, we read a book about the “Miracles of Jesus,” each page ending with, “Jesus can do anything!”

Do we really believe that Jesus can do anything? Do we have that simple faith in the Messiah? If Jesus can walk on water, heal the sick, and feed thousands of people, what else can he do?

Wash away sins forever. Hebrews 10:14 says that by one offering, Christ has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. Under the Old Covenant, sacrifices were constantly needed to “roll back” the sins of the people. Christ changed it all when he himself become one sacrifice for all people of all time. Jesus can do anything!

Make you a new person. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that anyone in Christ is a new creature. The old has passed away and the new has come. When you commit your life completely to God and Christ, you have died to yourself and put Him on. What a beautiful and simple thing! Jesus can do anything!

Be your Salvation. Hebrews 5:9 says that Jesus is the source of salvation to all those who believe in Him. There is salvation in no other name. There is salvation in no one else than Jesus Christ. You can enter in to that relationship through baptism in which you die the death he died and rise up a new creature. Jesus can do anything!

Do you realize that you have the opportunity to give your life over to Jesus? There’s no greater thing you could ever do. Jesus can do anything!
