an update!

ok, so i’m all moved into the new house and finally have internet!

I heard back from JET and I have been made an alternate. So basically on the waiting list. Not ideal but its not all bad since theres still a chance i’ll be able to go to Japan :) just gotta wait until the end of June to see if i have a place. If not, life goes on! I won’t be reapplying though, the application was hellish and I can’t be bothered begging people for references again.

On another note, I handed in my dissertation. It was crap but at least its done. Just one more presentation and essay then I’m finished with uni! Yay!

Jet Interview done! Now just the long ass wait until April! Grammar test was fine and I had a good rapport with the ex-Jet guy but interview itself was iffy. Some good questions and some crappy ones so we shall see.

I’m nervous about this application to the JET Programme. I knew I wanted to teach English in Japan after graduation and I decided to go out on a limb with applying to JET. They’re the best paid and most prestigious out of the ALT jobs so I thought why not.

I’ll do it because I might as well but I’ll aim for interac and the other companies next year since JET is so competitive. I won’t care at all if I don’t get it.

Then I saw the application process.

Then I started it. Went through writing the essay, the disappointment of being let down by employers for references and finally getting everything together after 3 months. Sending it off and then having to resend more because they weren’t happy with a stamp.

All of this amongst my final/senior year university work.

I suddenly feel like I really want it, since the application was such a pain in the ass. I’m hoping for an interview and I want to do well, whereas just a few months ago I wasn’t bothered at all. I'm even cracking on with my Japanese course. Strange how your priorities can change.
