HotSpot- Calum Imagine
A/N: this is not the smutty Cal imagine I promised a while a go but I am sill working on that one!! And since I have Monday off of school and work I hope to get it posted as well. Also, the second imagine I told y’all about is still going through some majoring editing. I’m just not satisfied with it yet but I’ll post it as soon as I get it ready!!
He had been the sole person in the tiny coffee shop for the past hour so when the bell over the door rang he looked up curiously to see who had walked in. Calum's jaw nearly hit the table as he slowly drank her in. Starting at her red-heeled boots working his way up her ripped black skinny jeans to the gray t-shirt under the black hooded bomber jacket. Her long hair fell almost to her waist with the top half pulled up into some messy bun thing Calum couldn't understand how she got to stay put. She spoke quietly to the barista before pulling a few bills out of the bag she had slung over her shoulder. After paying for her drink she turned and walked right past Calum, the slight breeze carrying the sweet scent of her perfume. Before he left this shit hole of a coffee shop, he was going to get her number. He had to.
He shook his head in attempts to clear his mind to get back at the task before him: finding the perfect leather jacket to replace the ripped one currently hanging on the back of his chair. He clicked the track pad to wake his sleeping laptop only to find that his Internet connection had timed out. Furrowing his brow, he tapped the home button on his phone to try and find out what was wrong with his hotspot. "Fuck," he cursed when he realized his data was up. Sighing he looked to see if there was anywhere close with wifi or someone that had an unprotected hotspot. Calum smirked when a single option popped up, knowing it was the girl who had walked in moments before. "Buy me a frap and I'll give you my password" the name read.
He snuck a glance her way to see that she had pulled out her own laptop and several folders. She had her bottom lip pulled between her teeth as she furiously typed away, occasionally glancing back at the papers scattered before her. Closing his computer and slipping it into his backpack, he stood from the table and made his way to the counter.
"Hey mate," Calum said, capturing the young boy's attention, "that girl over there, she come in here a lot?"
"Yeah, she's a regular. Comes in a lot and does like paper work and stuff -sometimes she just reads. Why? You're not like some creep right?" The kid said cautiously. Calum laughed, "Nah I'm not a creep. But uh, does she ever buy anything out of this case? I need something to break the ice."
A cheeky grin broke out on his face before he slid the small door open and reached for the frilly cupcake sitting directly in front of him. "She gets these all the time. I'm actually surprised she didn't get one today."
Thanking the young barista, Calum paid for the small pastry and took a deep breathe before turning on his heel and heading straight for his mystery girl. He stopped in front of her table, anxiously waiting on her to look up at him. And when she finally did, his heart nearly stopped. She had the most gorgeous eyes he had ever seen and her lips - god her lips looked so damn kissable. Cocking an eyebrow, she asked, "Um, can I help you with something..?"
Clearing his throat, he held the cupcake out to her. Confusion washed over her face as she tentatively reached out and took it. When her fingers brushed his for just a fraction or a second Calum swore he felt an electric shock running through his entire body.
"I would've bought you that frap but, uh, you just got one," he said nodding toward the drink sitting beside her.
Suddenly everything seemed to click into place and her eyes widened. "Oh my god," she laughed as she scribbled something down on a scrap of paper, "you are the first person to ever actually do that. I just changed the name for laughs." She ripped off the corner of the piece of paper and handed it to Calum.
He looked down at the random words and chuckled. And with a sudden burst of confidence he said, "What if I said what I really wanted was just an excuse to talk to you?"
She blushed an adorable shade of pink before murmuring, "Well I'd say that's pretty fucking smooth."
He smiled, "I'm Calum by the way.” He held his hand out for her to shake - looking for another excuse to touch her.
"Y/N," she said before reaching out a shaking his hand lightly. "Wanna sit?"
"I thought you'd never ask," he quipped. "So what are you working on?"
With a small shrug of her shoulders she said, "Just finishing up a little homework. I have a big report due in a few days and I really didn't want to go to my apartment because I knew my roommates would be obnoxious." Y/N punctuated her statement with an eye roll.
"Sounds like you don't get on very well them," he said with a smirk.
She shook her head, "Its not that. It's just they think I study too hard. But they don't realize that I have to keep my grades up. See, I'm going after this internship at the end of the semester so it's extremely important that I have all my ducks in a row. And- why are you looking at me like that? You think I should loosen up too don't you?"
He smiled and leaned back in his chair crossing his arms over his chest. "No. No, I agree with you. I like how determined you are. You see something you want and you're going after it whole-heartedly. I must say, I really admire that. Not many people have the guts to go after what they want."
A light pink blush crept its way onto her cheeks - a look that Calum found quite on her. "Yeah?" She mumbled.
"Yeah," he stated with a large grin plastered on his face.
Y/N reached for her drink. "So what do you do? You in school too?" She asked while fiddling with the straw a bit before trapping it between her lips and taking a long pull. Calum chewed on his bottom lip as he watched her drink from the straw. Watching her sucking on it gave him mental images he felt slightly guilty for having seeing as though he only just met her. Coughing he rubbed the back of his neck and mumbled, "I'm in a band. I play bass."
Y/N smirked and cocked an eyebrow, "And this band, does it pay the bills or are you just avoiding reality?"
He couldn't help but chuckle, "It pays the bills sweetheart. But it also helps with the whole reality thing."
"Well I'd love to see you play sometime," she said quietly, twirling the cup on the table. Calum sat up a little straighter, "R-Really?"
"Yeah, I think it'd be pretty cool," she laughed, swiping her finger through the thick frosting atop the cupcake. She stuck her finger in her mouth and licked it clean before releasing it with a ‘pop’.
Calum coughed, again needing to rid himself of the mental images of her on her knees out of his mind. He rubbed the back of neck, mumbling, "I can definitely arrange for you to come to a show. We are actually playing downtown in a few weeks. I can get you a ticket and a backstage pass so you can hang with me beforehand."
Y/N smiled at him before reaching for a piece of paper siting on the table. She quickly scribbled something onto it and pushed it towards him. "So you can hook me up with that ticket," she told him, a playful smirk tugging at her lips.
Calum happily took the second scrap of paper and pulled out his phone, quickly typing the digits and her name into a new contact file. Pulling up his messages, he shot her a quick text grinning when her phone vibrated moments later.
"Save my number babe ;)"
Y/N laughed and did as she was instructed before glancing at the time on her phone. "Shit," she murmured, "I need to get going. I told my roommates I'd meet them for dinner."
Calum chewed on his lip, weighing the options on offering to take her out to dinner himself. He watched her as she slowly packed her things.
"So I'll catch you later?" She asked, slightly disappointed he didn't ask her to stay or even offer to walk her to the restaurant where her friends would be waiting.
"Yeah. Yeah, definitely," he said, standing at the same time she did.
"It was nice to meet you. And thanks for the cupcake," she said leaning in and pressing a kiss to his cheek before walking around him to the door. He slowly reached up to touch the flaming spot on his cheek where her lips had been. A dark blush and a cheesy grin worked their way onto his face.
Taking a deep breath he grabbed his backpack and made a mad dash for the door. He quickly spotted her walking down the nearly deserted side walked and yelled out her name. She stopped up short and quickly whipped around, confusion washing over her face.
"Wanna go to dinner with me tonight?" He yelled, the goofy grin still resting on his pouty lips. His smile was mirrored and her beautiful laugh rang out in his ears, "I seriously thought you were going to let me walk away without asking me out."
"Hell no. It just took me a minute to balls up," he stated as she walked back to where he stood.
