Day 1 of #phyinJapan was exhausting, and, yes, so were Days 2 and 3. Not everyone is in this picture but I decided that the first picture I'd share of me in Japan would be one that features my fellow Singaporean JETs and our SG JET 2016 t-shirt! (: of all the countries participating in the #jetprogramme, we were the only ones privileged enough to be able to organize ourselves into a mini collective (yay to our LITTLE red dot) and make shirts for everyone. (: Tonight's the last night we're together in Tokyo, and tomorrow we'll be heading out to our placements; scattered from Hokkaido to Okinawa. Thank you for being such wonderful friends - dependable, enthusiastic, and simply lovable. Will definitely miss you all.

Happy birthday, daddy dearest.

I know that flying off on your birthday isn't exactly the best thing I can do as a daughter...but thank you for supporting me in my decision to head to Japan for work anyway. 💕 thanks for vacuum-packing my stuff heehee especially my not-so-little plush toy rabbit. 🐰 love you, daddy. I will miss your nonsense, dad jokes, and tv/movie time. BTW, I WATCHED 暗殺教室 ~卒業編~ ON THE FLIGHT YAY I'M SO SORRY I BOJIO.

And to the beautiful woman in this photo who I am blessed to be able to call my mummy, thank you for making sure that I didn't miss out on anything and for supporting me throughout the entire JET-preparation process. From kind words during the paper application period, to encouragement for my interview, to researching about Sendai City when I got my placement, to enduring my packing frenzy with me, thank you and I love you. Your positive and ganbatte-my-baby-girl attitude will fuel me on this journey. Daddy's reminders to take care will help me brave the obstacles that I will face too.

Baby loves you two and let's not be sentimental because I'll be home in a blink of an eye. For now, I will learn how to be an adult on my own! 😍😍😍 フィリスせんせい日本へ行きます！🇯🇵

First post from #Sendai! Went for the fireworks that kicked off #Tanabata #七夕 donned in a yukata 😍 last night! 七夕 is celebrated all over Japan and but yay Japan's biggest 七夕 celebration is in Sendai!! Wheeee!! Lucky me (': I couldn't believe that the fireworks lasted for a whole 90 minutes and they were just sooo pretty. (': I haven't been posting much on social media in the last week to do justice to the amount of memorable things that happened to me because I was wayyyyyy too busy and I realized that most memories I hold dear can't be captured on camera because of my poor photography skills! 😭 but here's one with the best sempais I can ever ask for. From giving me the best tips/help to having such wonderful and larger-than-life personalities, these sempais have made my move to Sendai so much less scary. So, thank you babes (': Also, my heart is filled with gratitude for the おばあさんたち who dressed and dolled us up so wonderfully with such skill and love.
