New York Jets cut WR Jarrod West; Sign small school wide out Arthur Williams

Jets have signed former Maine wide out Arthur Williams

The New York Jets have already released former Syracuse wide out Jarrod West, after signing a few days ago. The team replaced him with University of Maine wide receiver Arthur Williams. 

Williams, who played collegiality at Maine, was a tryout player at the Jets rookie mini camp. The 6’0”, 185-pound Williams had 101 career receptions with the Black Bears for 1,437 yards and 12 TDs.

New York Jets kick Phil Simms kid to the curb

Jets have released quarterback Matt Simms

The New York Jets have released quarterback Matt Simms today which puts them at 4 quarterbacks on the current roster.  This is likely to help rookie Bryce Petty gain some extra snaps in practices. 

Matt Simms is former New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms son.

Could the New York Jets trade up to get Jameis Winston?

There are reports today that the New York Jets are working out Jameis Winston this week and they are reportedly very high on him.  Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports that Jets GM Mike Maccagnan hasn’t ruled out the idea of possibly trading up from No. 6 overall.

Cimini mentions that there is “virtually no chance” of Winston falling to the Jets at No. 6, but the FSU product is reportedly “highly regarded” within the Jets’ organization, but will the Buccaneers pass on Jameis? 

I honestly cannot see this happening unless the Jets throw the house at the Buccaneers, and I still do not think you can pass on a future franchise Quarterback.

New York Jets are expected to sign linebacker Joe Mays

It looks like the New York Jets will sign another former North Dakota State football player.  According to Adam Caplan the Jets are expected to sign linebacker Joe Mays to a contract next week.  Mays was recently on the Chiefs and he will join former Bison Marcus Williams in Jet Country.

Jets are trying to get Eric Decker locked down quickly with Revis now a division rival

The New York Jets have turned up the gears on the Eric Decker talk.  According to Rich Cimini, the Jets are now feeling a sense of urgency to land the playmaker Decker.

Cimini just confirmed that Decker is still in town, and is currently at dinner with the staff.  It will be interesting to see what the Jets do, because at this point the team needs to sign as many key players they can to compete…
