Literally the whole point is everyone KNOWS holly is abusive IN CANON. One way survivors can cope with and overcome trauma is exposure therapy, which isn't effective for all, but is highly effective for SOME. The beauty of *fan*fiction is you can make the characters do whatever you want. You can make them apologize. You can make them sorry. You can make things less awful, so it's easier to deal with your own shit that will never be fixed with any sort of apology.
