Xi Mo’s eyes, as dark as ink, froze.
In the past, after her nightly self-study periods, her family would always send over someone to collect her. On some of those nights, Ruan Yesheng would walk with Xi Mo to the parking lot. Despite Xi Mo telling her not to follow her, Ruan Yesheng had insisted, every time, that she needed to pass through this parking lot to get back to her dorm anyway, and so Xi Mo didn’t chase her away.
And before she got into her car, Ruan Yesheng would always say the same thing.
“We’re classmates, right? And yet, you still haven’t said goodnight to me.”
Xi Mo didn’t remember whether she did say goodnight to her every time.
It had been too long ago. She had already forgotten.
Now, leaning against the door, long hair swept over her shoulder, Xi Mo said gently to her, “Goodnight.”
Satisfied, Ruan Yesheng left. She returned to her room, and finally, collapsed, like the young girl she once was, flinging herself into her soft blankets.
Heart pounding wildly, a smile seeped out from the corners of her mouth.
In this moment, she felt truly blessed.
