On the one hand, I totally love the idea of a slow burn season two #jiara where we watch the writers build up their chemistry and maybe drop little hints that there's Something There™ but nothing totally straightforward until like the emotional finale where something unspoken becomes momentarily spoken and realizations are made and then watching season three really take that romance and run with it like ho baby yes I am here for that.
But on the other hand I'm realizing I might have to wait until 2023 TO SEE A JIARA KISS and honestly don't know if I will survive the wait.
Summary: JJ and Kiara are two best friends on a road trip to Kiara's family Christmas reunion, what could possibly go wrong with that right?
Basically a one-shot turned into a two part trying to fit as many fluffy holiday tropes as it is possible into one fluffy fic

You were getting frustrated with Justin now. Two minutes ago, you were nervous and excited to tell him that you had been in love with him for years. You were hoping he would pick you up and swing you around with glee in his eyes. You knew he felt the same, you could see it in his eyes, in the way he cared for you, spoke to you and talked about you to your friends whenever he thought you weren’t paying attention.
Instead, here he was, yelling at you.
“Why would you even— fuck! I’m a goddamn asshole." He paces over to the kitchen of the Outhouse and slams his fist against the fridge. "I— you— you should be with someone better. You deserve better."
“You're not an asshole, Justin! Why would I love you if you were.”
“But I— I— I was friends with Bryce.”
“Not anymore.”
“I drink, and— and I was a fucking addict!"
“Justin! What the fuck? Stop it." You inch closer to him. "I know you feel the same way about me. What is going on with you?”
“Your parents.” Justin sighs, his voice becoming softer, and quieter. “They wouldn’t want you to be with someone like me.”
“Is that what this is about? Did they say something to you?”
Justin’s eyes flicker away from you for a second, and you recognise the movement as his signature quirk he does when he is lying or hiding something from you. “Fuck.”
"So they did then." You sigh. "They want you to stay away from me, don't they?”
He small nod would go unnoticed if you weren't stood close enough to him to see the movement. You cross your arms and huff. Anger begins to bubble up inside of you.
"Well, I don’t care what they said, it doesn’t mean shit!"
"But—"
“No!! Okay? I love you, and you love me. I know it. My parents... they will just have to suck it up and deal with us, because I’m not letting you slip through my fingers after being in love with you for, fuck, for literal years now. I want you, Justin... and you want me too.” Your rant fizzles out when a wave of nerves hit you out of nowhere.
“Right?” You add, hoping more than anything, that he really does feel the same. "I'm right..."
