What Have We Done

Things hadn’t gone as well as Steve had hoped. Yes, everyone was out of the Raft, but that didn’t mean it was smooth sailing. They were still hiding out in various places around the world, still doing what they could where they could, but it was lonely work. He missed the rest of the team, and he could tell that at least a couple of the others did too.

Which was probably why he was up late, staring down at the other burner phone. There was only one number, the number for the one he’d sent to Tony, but he’d never called it. Sure, he’d thought about it a few times, but things just never seemed right. Sighing, Steve flipped it open and typed in the number, thumb hovering over the call button.

They could do more good together. Steve pressed call, “... Tony? I... We need to talk. Meet me at the place we went after New York tomorrow afternoon.” And then he hung up and started the trip to get to the shawarma restaurant.
