Ranger Commandant Prepares To Move Headquarters To Redmont Fief

“She’s right, after all,” said Ranger Commandant Gilan, who was busy packing up his office as he spoke to us. “It’s really the only logical solution. After all, it’s easier to move a room filled to the rafters with paperwork than it is to move an entire restaurant, right?”

After weeks of rumors that the Ranger headquarters would be moving to Castle Redmont, the process finally began this past week. Sixteen castle servants and recently graduated Rangers have been recruited to help move the mountain of paperwork, while Ranger Gilan tries to stem the flow of new paperwork associated with the move.

The official reason for the move, as King Duncan’s secretary and the Commandant told us, is that the growing accuracy and speed of the carrier pigeon fleet is now able to handle the flow of communication between the King and the Commandant over the day’s journey between Redmont and Araluen, and it was deemed more important for the Commandant to be near the Ranger Task Group and his two most senior Rangers. Unofficially, the Commandant admitted, he is looking forward to being closer to Jennifer Dalby, owner of the famous Heaped Platter, whom he’s been courting for a number of years.

“Maybe this time she’ll finally say yes,” he mused quietly. Our reporters suspect the Commandant to be referring to the rumor that he has proposed marriage a number of times, having the answer postponed each time due to the long distance between the two. We the editors extend our hopes for the couple’s future happiness, no matter what Miss Dalby chooses.

Jennifer Dalby is at home preparing a leg of lamb and a plum tart, and could not be reached for comment.
