With all this talk of antifa being outlawed in the states, here's a timely reminder that militant antifascist action is a Metis tradition. We've been organizing against and beating the shit out of fascist scum wherever we meet them since the rise of fascism.
If you're asking me whether I think antifa is a defensible Section 35 right for Metis I have to say that I don't give a shit what the government considers a legitimate Indigenous tradition but also like yeah that'd be sick lol
See below a traditional Metis antifascist. Is rumoured to have single-handedly taken down six fascists outside a bar in Lac LaBiche (if I remember correctly), tried to join the International Brigades, later fought in WWII specifically to kill fash.
Also, I would really encourage anyone interested in Métis political activism, and Jim Brady (the man pictured) in particular to read Molly Swain’s thesis about the subject.
