'picking up the soap' by jim evans in blue book - brad benedict (1983)
Larry Zbyszko comes off so confident and manly and sexy in this easy victory over Jobber Jim Evans. He moves around the ring with powerful grace, like a cunning old panther.
These dominant Real Men and their brutal tactics did something to my brain when I watched wrestling as a youth, and it looks like there's no undoing it. Fuck YEAH, ruthless dad-bodied Heels!
The commentators seem to agree with me, praising this Ring Lord non-stop, waxing poetic over how great he looks and how powerfully he wrestles. Today's captions are actual quotes from their verbal masturbations during the match.
They point out that Larry has a wrestler's physique, not a bodybuilder's physique. Implying that the wrestler's physique is actually better, and I'm sure not arguing -- Yowza!!
Click! There went another synapse in my brain linking masculine pro wrestler with sexy, and it's a wrap.
That's all ya need. Plain black trunks, a classic Dad Bod.
Full match recently posted to YouTube.

mzlaylaw: ‘’Photo 1 is a wrap on @sebastiansozzi (💕) as Officer Diego Carranza, #2 is a repost from way back on ep 102, and #3 is of me and @noelfisherand @michaelpatrickthornton who portray Officer Paul Evans and his brother, retired officer Jim Evans. The four of us play Chicago police on @theredlinecbs, a show which starts with a terrible tragedy, a white police officer shooting a black physician. I will leave interpretation and opinions on the subject matter to the viewers to absorb and digest and discuss. However, I must say how grateful I am that @caitcrime, @lcotshot and @ericamakesplays have written, and @hookshots and an incredible team of episode directors and writers have helped us to portray, these police officers as human beings. They love their families fiercely, they want to do their jobs, they are flawed and conflicted and they make mistakes, sometimes terrible ones. But they are people, and they are trying really hard to figure it out, one day at a time. This isn’t an action series, you won’t see us chasing perps through alleys. This is a human drama, and the people suffering and growing at the heart of it are humans. As we come into our final week of filming this season, I just want to say how proud and grateful I am to be a part.’’
