Jimmy snickered, progressively shoving him along. Surely this would work. It's all he ever really seemed to talk about, right?
"Come on, you can trust me! Just keep your eyes closed, alright? We're almost there, Curls. Couldn't afford a blindfold, so you're stuck with your eyes being shut instead."
...They never even left Curly's apartment. Jimmy was just making this into a big deal. All the more impressive once they finally get there. Show Curly he's capable. That he doesn't have to rely on him all the time.
Curly heard shuffling around, they were presumably in Jimmy's room by this point, there were only so many places in this specific layout. There was a decently loud sound, as if something fell. Curly nearly opened his eyes instinctively, and he was about to check on Jimmy, but, again.
"I'm fine. Just- moving shit around here... okay. There you are."
Jimmy scrolled through his phone, looking through his emails for a quick moment before whirling around, holding the phone close to him, phone screen facing him instead of Curly.
Curly heard footsteps, a closer presence. Jimmy, obviously.
"Okay, you can open your eyes now."
Curly was hesitant, honestly, but he opened them. Looking around the room, it looked just about the same besides a few honestly pathetic looking birthday decorations. It wasn't anyone's birthday, though?
Then Jimmy turned the phone around, the screen was nearly fading to black but he tapped it to get it back to life in time. He snapped his fingers, getting Curly's attention.
There was an email on the screen, from a company he recognized immediately. The same one he was applying for, and tried to convince Jimmy into, only for Jimmy to supposedly decline.
"...You. Jim. Oh my god, wait. Is this what I think it is??"
He took the phone from Jimmy's hands, reading the email over. Once, twice.
"I got the fucking job, Blondie! I know I said i wouldn't, but, ah... I don't know. Wanted to piss you off."
Jimmy snickered, though that was long forgotten the moment Curly embraced him in a hug. ...He wasn't upset at him. Why wasn't he? He didn't even notice when Curly sat the phone down, he was too caught up in his own ego or something.
Curly was happy for him. Maybe then Jimmy could stop relying on him to take care of him, maybe his life would get back together, and they could live a normal life that Jimmy didn't have to struggle with anymore.
Jimmy wasn't good with contact, or hugs especially. His arms were just kind of lost at his sides. Curly was the exception, he didn't shove him away, he didn't mind all that much.
"I'm so, so glad. We're gonna be working together! Life can only go up from here, I reckon!"
He couldn't imagine Jimmy got too high of a role, hell, he probably wouldn't take that too well. Just a simple role on the ship that'll get him by in life, and he was still so happy for him.
He finally backed away after embracing him for what seemed like forever, looking around the room.
"...I don't think the attempt at decoration was needed, however. We're gonna have to clean this up. Not that it'll be too hard, it's minimal, but it's endearing. You always go beyond my expectations, huh?"
Beyond his expectations. He'd be better, he'd get better. Things were looking up. Leave his issues in the past, he'd be fine. As long as he had Curly.
As long as he had him.
