Final Good-Bye to Koreaㅠㅠ~~
I know I have neglected my blog, but I want to write one final post.
I have been gone from Korea for exactly one month – although I’ve only been home for about 1.5 weeks because I stopped in Tokyo for a few weeks. Sometimes being home feels like I never left and it’s crazy to think that I was actually gone over 2.5 years.
Here are a few memories from my time..
This was during a Buddhist temple stay. There was an overnight program for the English teachers in my province. It was advertised as a relaxing weekend out of the city--not that I lived in a big city. Umm relaxing it was not! We hiked a mountain, woke up at 4AM, and did 108 intense bows. It was definitely a one time only event.
This BOY was one of my students during the school festival. There was a cross dressing contest and I think he was one of the best. They canceled this part of the festival this past year because the principal didn’t like it. The students loved it though!
This was my first Korean wedding. The bride was another English teacher in the city I lived, although she was Korean-Canadian. I went to a few Korean weddings and they’re quite different (not in a good way), but this one was by far the nicest!!
My 2nd Thanksgiving dinner in Korea. These girls were some of my closest friends in Korea. My friend, Jeanette (far left), might be the best cook I’ve ever met and she could do so much with the limited supplies in Korea. She spoiled us with all of her meals!
All of us laughed way too much during our quick trip to Jeju Island -- even though I seriously hurt my knee on the trip..I’ll remember the funny times.
These were my 2 co-teachers that I worked with for the past 2.5 years. On our final dinner together I asked them to take a picture...of course it ended up being a selfie -_-
I am going to miss REAL Korean food so much!!! First cheap Korean BBQ! I know I can get BBQ here, but it will def cost me a lot more. The second picture was one of my favorite dishes -- jimdak. So spicy and delicious. I know this will be impossible to find outside of LA or NYC.
Save the best for last...My bestie in Korea --Kylee!! During the year and a half we knew each other we explored pretty much all of Korea and it was really sad to say good-bye, but I know when she comes back home I’ll see her again..unless I have to go back to Korea for her Korean wedding ;)
I don’t regret my time in Korea at all. I have so many amazing memories from there and I know I will be back to visit. Many people have asked since I have been home if I will go back there to work in the future, but that’s not part of my plan. The school where I taught was too good to me and if I ever went back I know it would not be the same, so I have to close my chapter on Korea and just leave it on a positive note~~
