(Obligatory statement: below post is not about the actual youtubers at all, I am only taking about characters. I think the real Jimmy, fWhip, and all the others are awesome)
I don't think I'll ever get over Sheriff Jimmy Solidarity.
He was either hated or treated like an idiot by everyone. "Oh, poor backwards Jimmy, he doesn't understand how the laws work. Oh, stupid Jimmy, he keeps causing problems over nothing! Surely it's not because we steal from him and treat him as lesser everyday."
His first and only true ally abandoned him after Jimmy dared to stand up for himself. fWhip attacked and killed him repeatedly and then had the nerve to be upset that Jimmy made it clear he wasn't okay with it.
I just-
Sheriff Jimmy was not a good person. He did many things that truly weren't okay. But fuck, everyone treated him so poorly. He was never allowed to be redeemed. Once they had their minds made up about him, the abuse was inescapable.
You don't usually see narratives like that, where the main character is a "bad" person. No "oh they do x but for the right reasons" or "they secretly have a heart of gold" or "they regret all of the bad things". A character who is allowed to be flawed and yet they don't deserve awful things.
I think it's totally okay to not like or even hate Sheriff Jimmy, but I'll never accept anyone who thinks what happened to him was okay. His stuff stolen, his personhood denied, his bodily autonomy violated, his child taken away, and all of the other stuff.
It probably says something about me that I am so attached to the idea of "no matter how many 'bad' things you do or how 'evil' you are, you never have and never will deserve to be abused". But hey, if the one thing people know about me is that I think abusing people who you think are "evil" is not okay, then that's fine by me.
I love you, Sheriff Jimmy, flaws and all.
