cause You, Jimmy were the glimmer of light that rip through the cosmos like striking sun flares through black holes Your presence was the alternative for Colgate commercial braces Listerine fluoride floss you put the smiles on people’s faces when you rock the Ray bans like nobody’s boss you had the swag of Vietnamese Jay-Z the heart of a Cambodian MLK the mind and intelligence of a Southeast Asian Malcolm X
and I know cause you called me your mentor but honestly I’m wasn’t anything close I was more of a witness a witness to your power when you created a gravity like Jupiter moons your love for people was so powerful you could make spinning orbit typhoons you created a harmony among people that I couldn’t imagine at the end of my life’s work but I’m so sadden that your life had to be taken before this world realized your great worth but your spirit will forever be infused in our minds with your Buddhist enlighten beliefs you have etched the deep beautiful engravings of Angkor Wat temples on our chests
and its hard to believe that a young man of 16 who had so much love was murdered by a byproduct of so much hate Jimmy Le was a bystander in a drive-by shooting 3 bullets to the leg, stomach and head he would fight to stay alive but 3 days would pass before he would pass but I do not wish for any of us to retaliate with the same ignorance that took Jimmy cause I know he would want us to combat with love the same love that he lived by every single day and just SMILE!
and Jimmy, don’t act like I forgot man you were voted the summer program’s “Most Flirtatious” you were like a mini version of me but its wasn’t cause yo hot mess was a big ass flirt tho its cause society wasn’t ready to see how yo smile was so damn contagious
this world will be forever infected by your love and we will all live our your Mission cause I all know
as long as you stand by me we will stand by you
and the chants of “Smiles make the world go round” will hum forever
our ancestors of refugee, farmers, laborers, survivors, mothers and fathers will welcome you and with your smiling faces on our altars will celebrate you
