*Read through for discount code!* Every watch enthusiast I know has a few other hobbies he or she enjoys when not on the hunt for the next timepiece. For me, a couple of those hobbies are cars and history. When a book comes along that focuses on both those things, I close up the watch box and settle in for a read. Such a book crossed my desk recently, and I wanted to share a quick review with all of you. “Dodge Scat Pack and Plymouth Rapid Transit System: Chrysler's Muscle Car Marketing Programs 1968-1972” by Jim Schild and published by CarTech Books is Jim’s newest in his prolific library. If you’re a Mopar nut, or just a fan of muscle cars in general, this book will scratch that itch. Jim delves into the history of the marketing genius behind the Scat Pack and Rapid Transit System cars, clubs, parts and accessories that made the Mopar muscle cars stand out even more. Chapters 1 through 9 deal with the ‘60s and ‘70s cars, while chapter 10 turns to modern Mopar muscle with the rebirth of Scat Pack starting in model year 2014. Throughout, this book is chock full of vintage photos and advertisements, adding rich visual detail to a fun read. If you have any interest at all in muscle cars, or even just the marketing ideas behind them I strongly suggest picking up this book. As a bonus, I have a coupon code that gets you 30% off the cover price! Use “ScatPackMuscle” (without quotes) at check-out and get revved up for another fantastic Jim Schild and CarTech Books publication!
