he comes and stops in for a minute. he just got home and he’s about to leave again - for the desert this time. more than a month until i’ll see that face again, a face so handsome it wraps back around to being ugly.

“let me kiss you,” he says, “before i leave - though you know i’ll come back. you know when i’ll come back.” i do. this happens every year.

“skip the kiss,” i tell him. punchy, uncouth, i have lots of raw edges. that i’m realizing will never smooth down. because if he can’t do it, who could? “just leave your shoes here.”

it’ll give me a sick kind of satisfaction. him hiking all those miles of sand with no sandals

sometimes dinner is a couple spoonfuls of peanut butter a vanilla ensure a magnesium tablet and multivitamin half a heated up carnitas burrito and a prayer to st michael.

omg hi!!! i just finished up working a conference that i’ve spent a LOT of time prepping for. so i’m a lot better now. i hope your week’s going ok too!

are there any character/ship dynamics that make you think of your ship?

in terms of just dynamics, spitshine to me is very gentle giant x small dog syndrome. in terms of other characters/ships, they are giving shaggy and daphne. my beautiful fiancé says kim possible and ron stoppable which is SOOO true. bonus: villain herm/waterboard and villain ziggy/shatter are giving spike and drusilla!

what names do they have for each other on their phones?

in ziggy’s phone: “herm 🖤💦”

in herm’s phone…. hmm. it’s very likely that it’s just ziggy’s name with some cute emojis 💞🥺 like how his contact is. but i also love the idea that her contact is some cutesy pet name… like “my princess” or something. gahhh hitting him w hammers
