Astarion could feel the other's resentment from a mile away since the moment they had joined the party. Truly, he didn't care enough to ask why. It wasn't like he didn't willingly ignore others in their encampment when it didn't suit him to schmooze and flatter. However, a clear partiality towards Gale of Waterdeep had Astarion grinning from ear to ear with amusement. He could not stop himself from mocking the situation. He was bored, after all, waiting around for the others to decide if they'd rather continue to waste their time helping others or actually get on with their main goal.

OVERVIEW.

Tragedy is the claim of fame to the magus bloodline known as Kobayashi. Following a fatal crash fifteen years ago, Jin was left the only survivor amongst his siblings and father—returned to his grieving mother in the aftermath of his hospitalization. He remained at his mother’s side for eight months before, engulfed by her loss, Ritsuko Kobayashi took her life and left her remaining child alone.

Jin found himself transported from his childhood home in Tokyo to Osaka, where his widowed grandmother had chosen to live out the rest of her days in pursuit of her studies. Though Atsuko had been estranged from her son following his marriage to Ritsuko—a woman she continued to despise, especially so after her suicide—she did not turn her grandchild away, for it was within the little one’s hands that the burden of their family’s hopes laid.

In her hands, the child made mute from devastation blossomed into a functional teenager and eventually, a responsible adult. He practiced piano and magecraft at her side, pouring over countless tomes and training with single-minded devotion. When the time came that Chaldea sought recruits, Atsuko thought it a chance to redeem their family’s reputation. Jin was sent to become a Master Candidate, and subsequently found himself amongst the forty-seven injured within their coffins.

Unlike the other forty-six, however—Jin woke up.

Due to a malfunction in the cryo functions of his coffin, the previously comatose Master Candidate found himself in a situation most baffling and unprecedented. The shock of the second near-death experience of his young life had left him shaken, though there was little time for him to think too hard about that. His first impulse, as Atsuko had always taught him, was to address the immediate problems ahead of him.

And the fate of the world was far more vital a thing than a grown man being scared, so he told himself.

Almost immediately he pushed himself to assist in matters, summoning his very first servant—an Archer class. With her by his side, he works to aid the other Master and Servants within Chaldea to restore order and repair the Singularities.

NOTE OF IMPORTANCE.

Jin’s story will carry a few themes relative to mental health, including mentions of his mother’s suicide, his own PTSD and survivor’s guilt. Bubbles was lovely enough to let me use her Archer class Sakura as Jin’s first official servant, though in theme with Chaldea—he can and will summon more to aid in the effort. Whether your Heroic Spirit is his summon or the MC’s is totally up to you!
