the top floor, du ciel house
cirque du ciel owns a large house less than a block away from the amphitheater where the majority of the performers stay in residence. it is an older house that has clearly not been kept up to the standard of the nicer side of the ton, but a little bit of scuff, grunge, and grim never really hurt. besides, it was nigh on impossible to keep any building containing such a volume of dirty, sweating, painted crew (which is not even to mention the animals that sometimes meandered outside their menagerie.)
jin, being one of the larger crowd-drawing talents on the billing, claimed their room first, which was all of the top floor. no one really had the stomach or patience to argue about it. there are two bedrooms, a parlor, a study, and a gallery balcony around the grand staircase and chandelier. the guest bedroom houses their pet bird, yazi, and occasionally that trained tiger that jin regularly releases from its cage. the master bedroom is filled with aerial equipment, nets, harnesses, ropes, straps, and trapeze. there is an unused bed in the room. the study is almost always locked with a key that jin keeps on their person and is trapped should anyone attempt a break in, and this is where all jin's current treasures are kept. it is also where they work and write letters as needed.
an open parlor functions as the room primarily used for their habitation. a hammock is rigged near the windows, as jin abhors traditional bedding, and a table for tea is set up in the corner. there is a table displaying an eccentrically ornate chess set that is always seemingly halfway though a game. every aspect of the home is decadent. when new, the furniture and decor would have been priceless in value. perfectly crafted and singular quality toiled for the highest ranking nobility. yet, all that once was pristine now had chips and scuffs and stained- worthy but well worn. jin accent everything with touches of home still.
