Actually, if I'm allowed to talk about jingbei for a moment, I quite like the concept of Jing Yuan inadvertently making everything worse by trying to keep Xiaobei from knowing exactly what happened to the hcq. Jingbei lore but it's something stupid like how they met when they were 50 years old after Jing Yuan tripped, fell down a hill, and accidentally trampled Xiaobei's plum tree sapling that she had JUST planted maybe a week before. Xiaobei was already in the garden when it happened so she freaked out, they started arguing, and then nearly started physically fighting, until Xiaobei's older sister Meiyu came and bashed them both with a wooden spoon.

Also think it's kinda cute that I clocked Jing Yuan for being clumsy in his youth despite not knowing anything about that BEFORE I said he and Xiaobei first met when he literally fell down a hill and trampled her plum tree sapling. Clumsy boy with a sword pisses off plant obsessed girl by accidentally stepping on her plants. I love them a lot actually -
