Hey,how do u feel about the whole thatsmyhyde callout situation? It makes me kinda sad

Heres my piece. It may be taken with a grain of salt and please understand the bias, thatsmyhyde is my best friend of course I will love and support him, its why his work is tattoed on my heart.

FIRST FIRST THIS STORY INVOLVES HEALING FROM TRAUMA AND COPING. NO ONE EVER OWES YOU THEIR TRAUMA OR TO EXPLAIN IT SO JOT THAT DOWN!!!

But obvious bias aside, heres where I stand, why I continue to love and support his work. First, if you havent read his work and are judge on pictures alone, youre missing a huge part and point. This whole notion of discomfort around pedophilia and fatphobia is first off rather far fetched. But people are missing the key point that Biscuit has stated before the ship of Jekyde is supposed to be toxic, not good, not redemable. Reading chapter 8 made my cry so much, to realize how bad my own abuse was. Little things in his story and Henrys mannerisim I had in relationships I thought were normal. Seeing Hyde come out of it with an almost Stockholm Syndrome as he mourns his abusers passing now living with Gabe. But he grows and is free. This isnt a story of pedos and body objectification. This is a story by someone who clearly found triumph in their own soul writing this. I know I did reading it. If it bothers you maybe you have your own trauma it stirs up and upsets you. Thats okay, you dont owe that explanation to anyone, but there is no need for this witch hunt over a work of fiction.

As for merchandise of a villian and his weight. Im so glad there is body represention in this story. Henry and Gabe being fat are really exciting to me cause I never see thst type of body anywhere. Hyde being skinny also doesnt represent “all good people are skinny” Hydes not the villian or really even the hero in a way. Hes literally just trying to live and survive. I bought the Henry shirt too cause hey, hes a great villian and I love to hate him. Same reason people who watch anime or video games buy villian merch and cosplay as them. Theres no difference. Its the same reason fans of shows like MHA call Toga “baby girl” despite her literally killing and stealing people blood but I digress.

In the end its very harmful and honestly not fair to Biscuit or those who found comforts and their own truths in his compelling Hyde. Discovering what toxicity truly is and how hard it is to leave. Im so proud of him and all hes done and hopefully will continue to do. Thank you for asking and thank you for reading.
