Hi! This is my first fanfic, my memory is a bit foggy and I'm only on s1e4 of my LOK rewatch so I apologize for any inaccuracies!
a/n: this is just a quick blurb where the reader is the oldest child of Tenzin and has a crush on Bolin.
It's been six months since the Equalists' attack. Life seemed to be back in its peaceful state for you and your family, besides the occasional air scooter races between Korra and your siblings. You sat on your usual perch in one of the many trees of Air Temple Island. From the ground, you were mostly hidden so it was a great place to hide from your annoying siblings. It was quite peaceful. The gentle breeze, the swaying of the leaves, and the calming sound of water below the island. You closed your eyes, lost in thought. No matter how hard you tried, you couldn't get the image of that earthbender out of your mind. Not only was he handsome, he was kind and honestly one of the gentlest souls you ever met.
"[Name]!" the sound interrupted your thoughts. You looked down to see Jinora, one of you younger siblings. You sighed quietly.
"Need something, Jinora?" you questioned her, a bit annoyed that the young airbender had wrecked your train of thought.
Jinora sent a gust of wind against the ground, causing her fly into the air and land on the branch that you were on. She coolly sat next to you, smiling softly. "No. I was just wondering where you were." She always seemed so.. above it all. "What were you thinking about?"
You shrugged, crossing your arms. "Not much."
Jinora didn't like that answer. "You seemed like you were really deep in thought, though." she replied in her usual calm tone.
"It was nothing important, really." you couldn't help the light blush that appeared on your face at the thought of Bolin again.
Your little sister picked up on this. "Nothing, huh? It seems to me like you were thinking about a certain earthbender." Jinora smiled cheekily.
"What?" you questioned, your heart dropped. You hoped to God that Jinora didn't figure it out. Was it really that obvious?
"Bolin." Jinora looked up at you, her brown eyes sparkling in excitement. "I saw the way you were looking at him when he first came to Air Temple Island."
You sighed. Well, at least it wasn't Meelo or Ikki who figured it out. "Please don't tell anyone. Especially not dad." you spoke quietly, a bit embarrassed.
"Don't worry, I won't tell a soul." Jinora reassured you that your secret was safe with her. Though, that might not be completely true. You knew at the back of your mind that she'd probably tell your other siblings- maybe even your mother. Jinora jumped down from the tree, smiling up at you as she shielded her eyes from the sunlight with her hand. "Bye, [Name]." She had a mischievous look on her face, one that was new to her. Jinora was usually the calm and collected one but now she seemed to act similarly to Ikki, as if she were up to something. You groaned quietly, watching the airbender as she walked off- most likely on her way to expose your secret.
Would you mind writing a Jinora x Reader fic? Jinora tells about reader to her uncle and aunt who interrogate reader!! Thanks a lot!!
Sorry this took so long!
(I am aging Jinora up to 16 for season 1 references and 17 for season 2/3 references.)
You didn't meet Jinora until you got sent to Air Temple Island, while your sister and her new friends dealt with Amon. You were Asami's younger sister and a fire bender. No one other than yourself knew that you could fire bend because you kept it a secret after your mother died to a fire bender when you were a baby, you still learned as much as you could about it though. It hurt to learn that your father was an equalist and held such a negative vendetta against benders. You thought multiple times about telling Asami but it just never seemed to be the right time.
---
"This is Y/n Sato, she will be staying with you while we go handle things with Amon." Tenzin says as he places a hand on your shoulder and introduces you to his kids. You give them an awkward wave while Meelo bellows a loud and proud, "Hello pretty lady!" Causing his sisters to smack their foreheads. After recovering from second hand embarrassment, Ikki is her more energetic self and starts asking tons of questions, that you could barely keep up with. "Ikki calm down." Jinora says and you give her a grateful look causing her to blush. "Why don't I give you a tour of Air Temple Island?" Jinora asks shyly and you nod your head, a little too enthusiastically. You follow Jinora out of the room, missing the smirk Ikki and Meelo share.
---
After everything with Amon was dealt with, you split time between helping Asami fix Sato Industries and traveling to Air Temple Island to hang out with Jinora and the other air bending kids. Of course, you both claimed friendship whenever someone asked why the two of you spent so much time together, missing the way the other would blush or get teased behind each other's backs.
---
You and Jinora start dating after everything with Vaatu and Unalaq happen. You were so scared that Jinora's spirit was going to be lost forever in the spirit world and that you never go the chance to tell her how you felt. You were the first person Jinora hugged after her family and spent weeks on Air Temple Island with her as she regained her strength. When the two of you did start dating, you kept it a secret from everyone.
You kept it from her siblings because both of them liked to talk and sometimes couldn't hold secrets if it made them too excited. You didn't tell Tenzin because he scared you, you knew he and Pema would accept your relationship because air benders saw love as love and claimed that it was when two spirits connected and spirits didn't care for gender. On the other hand, while the fire nation was becoming very progressive, it still had some close minded opinions on things.
You didn't think Asami would have a problem with you and Jinora's relationship, seeing as you think she is starting to feel something for a certain Avatar, but you didn't want to risk it and find out. You didn't tell any of the "Krew" because you wanted your sister to hear about your relationship from you personally and not any of her friends. The first people you did tell though, was Jinora's Aunt and Uncle.
---
You and everyone else decided that taking a vacation before having to deal with the repercussions of harmonic convergence was ideal. So you all took some bison and headed to the Western Air Temple to clean it up some. You and Jinora had talked a lot on the trip, both of you sharing a bison with all the luggage, and decided that you would slowly start telling your friends and family about your relationship. You both agreed that Kya and Bumi would be the best to tell first because they were the most chill out of everyone.
---
You were wrong, they were way more over protective than you thought. You had asked them to meet you at a water fall that was near the temple and away from prying eyes. "What did you want to talk to us about kids?" Bumi asked as he rested against a rock, Kya standing next to him with her arms crossed a worried expression on her face. You and Jinora were both extremely nervous and could barely make eye contact with each other let alone Kya and Bumi. "Well... Jinorahassomethingtotellyou!" You yell out, feeling like you could combust at any moment. Jinora looks at you for a moment before giving you a swift punch to the shoulder, semi-annoyed that you just threw her under the bus. "Their your aunt and uncle, not mine!" You say in defense and Jinora just rolls her eyes at you before turning back to Kya and Bumi.
"Aunt Kya, Uncle Bumi, y/n and I have been dating for the past 6 months. You guys are the first people we've told so please don't tell anyone else." Jinora says and you both wait for a reaction. At first, Kya and Bumi send smirks to you and each other before their expressions go neutral. "Jinora, why don't you head back to the temple." Kya suggests and Jinora gives you a nervous look and a quick of your hand before heading back towards the Western Air Temple.
You watched Jinora until she rounded a corner and you couldn't see her anymore and turned back to see Kya and Bumi staring at you with hard expressions. You let out a audible gulp. "So, you think you can just date our niece?" Bumi asks as he continues to lean on the rock while Kya walks circles around you. "'I really love Jinora, I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize what we have." "Hmmm." Kya stops circling you and walks balk to her spot next to Bumi. "We'll see about that... Bumi." Kya says as Bumi stands up and she takes his place leaning against the rock. "Let's get started kid."
---
6 hours... It had been 6 hours since Jinora left that you finally returned to the Western Air Temple, completely exhausted. Bumi put you through multiple United Forces workouts and punishments. Then, once they were sure you were tired out, Kya practically interrogated you until they were both sure they could trust you with Jinora's heart.
"You ever been in a relationship before?" "No ma'am."
"What would you do if you both got attacked by a armadillo bear?" "Trust that Jinora knows how to protect herself and help her take the animal down."
"Have you had sex yet?" "Eww! Bumi I wasn't going to ask that!" "What I need to make sure they wait till marriage!" "Their only teenagers!"
You literally collapsed onto your bed as soon as you reached your room, almost missing Jinora sitting in a seat in your room. "That bad?" She asked as she stood up to sit next to you on the bed and started to rub your back. "It was terrible, I used some muscles I didn't even know I had." Jinora's gained an amuse smile as she leaned down to give you a kiss on the cheek. "Why don't you go take a shower to get all that sweat off of you, while I go get you some ice bags?" She suggested, causing you to nod your head.
You let out moans and groans as you slowly lifted yourself off of the bed. "I passed though." "Huh?" Jinora asked as she turned around while she opened the door. "I passed their test, practically part of the family now." You jest and send Jinora a smile. Jinora returns the smile, "Never had a doubt."
A/N: Starting after Kuvira’s defeat. Jinora is 16 and Y/N is close to his 17th birthday.
Y/N is a fire bender. Minor swearing.
F I R E D. FIRED. Fired. “What the hell is this?” You ask your boss. “Listen shrimp. This project isn’t about being practical. We want the user to like the look. “Well go to hell! You can take your ‘look’ and shove it up your—“ “Clean out your desk. You’re fired.” You are a fairly advanced engineer/programmer. Unfortunately, your boss was an idiot. Now, time to get a better job. You were about to get into your car, when a gang just grabbed you and dragged you to their van. You were burning your way out the back, and then escaped, only to find yourself in an abandoned warehouse. You snuck outside, and found yourself on some island in the middle of nowhere. “Crap.” After hours of sitting on the burning sand of the beach, you made a boat out of spare metal in the warehouse, and drove off the island. You ended up getting stuck in a blizzard and frozen in a block of ice. It preserved you for months, and finally you floated into the coast of some snowy cold place, the southern water tribe. You were found stone cold and practically dead, but they melted you just in time and saved you. After days in the infirmary, you woke up to see the cutest girl you’ve ever seen in your life. You jolted awake, and tried to play it cool. “Yo.” Damn, that screwed it up. “Hi! So glad you’re finally awake! I’ve been so worried!” She tells you about being found in ice. “Anyway, what’s your name? Mine’s Jinora!” “My name’s (Y/N)” “Nice to meet you! Sooo, I, like, seriously want to know about what happened to you. Sooo?” “Honestly, I don’t think you’ll believe it.” “Come on.” “Fine. I was getting to my car after getting fired, and some thugs caught me, and took me to a warehouse. I built a boat and sailed off, but got stuck in a blizzard, and froze in a block of ice. I’ve been like that for months, and I’m finally out.” “Wow. I do not believe that. You were right.” You shrugged in agreement, and walked out of the room. Tenzin found you, and asked you if you were a good engineer. You nodded, as you are, and he took you to a construction site. “We’ve been having a giant problem with the robot, though we have all the materials that Kuvira used to build this. Varrick didn’t want to help, seeing the damage it had originally wreaked. No matter how many times we put it together, it doesn’t move. You poked around the controls, and after 2 minutes, said “The wires of the controls aren’t connected with the robot.” The lead engineer said “Nonsense! You know nothing!” Another checked it out and said “Uh, boss? He’s right.” Tenzin thanked you and agreed with everyone saying that you were a prodigy. You looked around the place. The southern water tribe was cool, and cold too. You tied your jacket tighter. While walking towards Katara’s tent, you caught a glimpse and suddenly, you blacked out. “Is he dead?” “No.” You opened your eyes, and found yourself in the infirmary again. “You must’ve had an after effect from the ice.” You nodded, but didn’t agree. While blacking out, you glimpsed an arrow from the Yu Yang archers, coming to your eye. You did as much research on them as possible, and the only thing you could find was that they had shot the blue spirit, the late fire lord Zuko, in the eye. You were confused now. Are you channeling him? There was only one way to find out. You’ve never used broadswords before. Time to check. You picked up the broadswords and swung them around, swiftly and elegantly. That confirmed it. Something was very wrong here. Suddenly, you had an urge to go to the Lake Laogai. Upon reaching there, against your will, you dove into the water and fished the mask of the blue spirit out. You finally understand what Zuko wanted you to do. You started to go from engineer to vigilante. Soon, word got out that the Earth Kingdom had a blue spirit that actually helped, and stopped crimes. As you expected, government officials started to investigate you once you caught a major drug dealer. However, instead of handing him over to the police, you decided he was too dangerous to be left alive, so you killed him and his goons, making you technically
wanted for multi-homicide. Finally, the government caught up, and Tenzin found your identity. He was surprised as hell, but he made a deal. If you worked with the police to help stop crime, they’d let you go on the killing people part. “Do you accept?” “Yeah, sure.” Jinora watched the deal be made, and seemed to be relieved at the least. At one time, when you stormed a criminal base, your entire team was shot to shreds. This was the crowning moment of your police gig. You grabbed the nearest scraps of shrapnel, used some stuff you had, and made a bomb. With nothing other than that bomb and a sweet rifle that had a range that’s higher than Snoop Dogg, you destroyed them. After frightening them with some accurate shots and the bomb, you forced them to come out into the open. It was easy combat. With Zuko’s broadswords skills, they never stood a chance. It was all over when the tanks showed up. Bloodied up, but intact, you returned home to hq and were caught in a hug by Jinora. “How did you survive this one?” “You’re not going to believe it.” And you two laughed. The next day, you hand in your resignation letter and clear out your desk. Later, you pass your next job interview, and get a badge: Y/N, Private. You joined up with the army. When your next mission came up, it was way more intense than any other one. You were supposed to take your squad and charge a humongous, imposing fort that is guarded by lasers, cannons, and lethal weapons. You walked to Jinora’s room in the hostel for Team Korra, and confessed, knowing it could be your last day of life. Knock knock. “Who’s there?” “It’s me, Y/N.” She opened the door and her face brightened up. “Oh, hi!” You took a deep breath. “Listen, Jinora. I know we’ve been friends, I think, but sometimes, I feel like I like you more than a friend. And I may not come back from this mission, so I just wanted to say it. You probably won’t feel the same way, and that’s it.” Jinora was speechless. “I do feel the same way.” And she kissed you on the lips. You kissed back, and felt liquid anger boil in your veins. The enemy will not stop you. You went to the battlefield and charged. With nothing but a rifle and broadswords, you started sniping defenses. The lasers were taken out and you sniped the cannons down too. You led a squad into the fort, and they headed on without you. You went back to get more men, but before that, an arrow was fired straight into your back. You ripped it out, and threw it back at the archer. It killed him and avenged you. With the last bit of strength, you charged the fort yourself, and destroyed the enemy flag with your fire. Finally, you took a last breath and died. Jinora sobbed, your squad were crestfallen, and everyone was very devastated. Meanwhile, you were in the spirit world, talking to fire lord Zuko. He said “You have done well, Y/N. But your time is not over. I will sacrifice my spirit to save yours.” “But you won’t be in the spirit world!” “It makes no difference. You are too young to die.” Still protesting, you were brought back to life by Zuko’s spirit. You got up, and saw yourself in the funeral. Jinora looked up, and gasped. Like everyone else. The funeral turned into a party, and right then and there, you realized you may have lost Jinora forever. So in front of everyone, including Tenzin, you kissed Jinora on the lips. Everyone was fine with the new relationship, and Tenzin was more on the “do what you must” mindset. Later, Jinora asked “How on earth did you live?” You grinned, and said “You’re not gonna believe me.”
(the legend of korra — romantic! mako x waterbender! reader)
after commander guan’s downfall, it seemed like the krew had to endure new challenges every time they got a moment of peace. they know that they have a lot of work to do in order to repair their relationships. and maybe with a little help, you can take the first step into forgiveness within yourself and a certain firebender waiting for you
cw / fire, lightning
a/n haha i’ve been writing fluff this whole time with tlok so i thought i’d jump back into my roots bc i feel horrible. i’m sure there’s a mention of you sleeping in the girl’s dormitories somewhere but it’s only bc jinora sleeps like a room away. and we’re bringing back waterbender reader,,, fire and water dynamics just speak to my soul okay?? also, i have never read the tlok comics so i am basing it off what i know and have seen. if i go against canon, you don’t see it. or it’s canon now cause fanfic !! this is so messy i’m sorry but i’ve wanted to write it for a while now and get it out of my system
heat. that was all you could feel around your body as he stood a few feet in front of you. you couldn’t fight back anymore, not when there was no accessible source of water. not when you could risk hurting him. he took the stance you were so familiar with, and you swore it was the end. when the sparks grew, you lifted your hands up to defend yourself anyway. lightning paved through the battleground of guan’s laboratory, and you closed your eyes awaiting the impact. the last thing you remember were dull amber eyes that showed no regret before a blur took over.
“mako, no!” you sat up in bed, breathing heavily. as the sun barely began rising, you rubbed your eyes, ridding yourself of the tears falling. adjusting to the light, you looked around frantically. you sighed in relief when you recognized your surroundings.
you’re safe. you’re in your room at air temple island. remember, suyin was able to get you out of there before he struck you.
pressing a hand to your heart, your hand bunched the front of your shirt together. this had been your nightly routine since that day. make an attempt at going to sleep, have a nightmare, wake up, stay up, think about it. repeat. you prayed no one noticed the change in you, but it was inevitable. no longer were you the calm, social waterbender that your friends knew. you’d listen instead of partaking in conversations, take more time in perfecting your skill, and worst of all — you treated your boyfriend (if you could still call him that) like a stranger. the guilt ate you up horribly, but you knew there was nothing you could do about it. except let it happen. those amber eyes used to be the death of you, making you feel like a puddle under his intense stare. now, every time you so much as locked eyes, it felt like a matter of life or death.
you had been so caught up in your thoughts, you failed to notice the shadow of a young airbender outside your door. when it slid open, you snapped your head up to see jinora. her messy hair and the blanket wrapped tightly around her body told you she had just gotten out of bed.
“jinora? hey, the sun’s just rising. what are you doing?” you asked, making room for her on your bed. she closed the door behind her. walking quickly, she had taken a spot to your left. wrapping an arm around her, you adjusted her blanket to keep her warm as she suppressed a yawn.
“i heard you yell, thought you’d want some company.” she buried herself into your side, and you sigh. looking over at her, you do your best to neaten her hair.
“i’m sorry you had to hear that. are you going to sleep here until breakfast?”
“s’okay. i was wondering if we could talk, actually.” her voice now seemed more energetic, and your heart started beating erratically. you knew what jinora was going to bring up. as much as you loved the girl, you were sure you never wanted to open yourself up to that part of your mind ever again. but, you also knew she wouldn’t take no for an answer.
“are you sure you don’t you want to go to sleep? you could use the energy.” you deflected, and she shook her head.
“i’m a teenager, i’ll find the energy later.” she insisted, and you sighed. there was no walking out of this one. as you nodded, jinora hoisted herself up. she fiddled with her fingers before taking a look at you.
“i know you try to make it seem like you’re okay, but i know you’re struggling. it’s starting to worry me.” she frowned, which caused you to mirror her expression.
“well, i appreciate the concern. but i’ll be fine, i just need some time to think things over. plus, you’re young. you shouldn’t be worrying about me, because i’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be the other way around.” you shrugged, and her eyes became glossy. she bunched up her blanket before huffing.
“y/n, i’m being serious! it’s clear that you have unresolved feelings about what happened to you, anyone can see that. you haven’t made an effort to get through to mako in six months! he’s hurting, and so are you. i just want you to give me a chance to help you.” she explained, grabbing your hand. as she pleaded with you, the guilt pooled into your stomach. you squeezed her hand.
“ugh, i don’t approve of what you’re doing, but if it makes you feel better...what do you want me to do?” you asked, and she widened her eyes. shaking your hand, she let her blanket fall off her shoulders to give you a hug. you visibly stiffened, and she quickly removed herself from you.
“sorry, i just didn’t expect you to say yes so quickly.” she giggled, causing you to roll your eyes.
“please, you know i can’t say no to you.” jinora only smiled.
“well, to answer your question. i was thinking we could have a chat in the meditation pavilion after breakfast, and later tonight i can use some of my spiritual energy to try and rid you of a few nightmares.” she explained, and the eloquence in her tone would have been normal to outsiders. but the crinkle in her nose and her interlaced fingers gave her away.
“how many times did it take you to perfect that explanation?” jinora’s cheeks reddened.
“about sixteen times. i was uh, determined to help.” she spoke sheepishly, and you smiled.
“well, thank you.” she was about to respond when a knock made you jump. you were now on high alert, ready to bend if need be. jinora stood and kept a hold on one of your arms. she knew that this was your way of coping with the accident and she didn’t want to stop that. besides, if they were in serious danger, at least the girl had a good chance of protecting you both. and with jinora by your side, it was also much easier to avoid a casualty.
“uh, y/n? tenzin sent me over to tell you guys that breakfast is ready.” he said, as you spotted his shadow. he was hesitant to open the door, and you sighed in relief when he decided not to. you grabbed your flask of water, fastening it around your waist before lightly pushing jinora in front of you. when she opened the door, you immediately did your best to avoid his gaze. it didn’t stop you from feeling the melancholy aura around him as you walked to the dining area. looking to your left, you smiled at the sights of air temple island. you felt jinora take your hand; something you were grateful for. as you distracted yourself, the young girl looked to mako. nudging him, she offered him a smile and her other hand. he gave a weak one back, taking her hand. they were silent the whole walk through, but it didn’t matter; jinora was confident that today, the real progress into healing would begin.
breakfast was rather uneventful, so you and jinora both excused yourselves early to get a head start on your journey. when you got there, you felt as though someone had been watching. when confiding this to the girl, she had reassured it was only the two of you. but she made an effort anyway in sweeping the area in order to calm your nerves. she had you prepare and focus on your breathing while doing so, so you hadn’t noticed her glaring at the top of a tree, where a brooding firebender sat.
“you shouldn’t be here!”
“i just wanna know where i went wrong, jinora!”
“you’ll find out mako, when the time’s right. now stop being nosy, your cop instincts are taking over.” she shook her head, walking away.
“you find anything?” you opened your eyes, losing your position as jinora sat across from you.
“other than a lemur, i think we’ll be okay.” she giggled. she quickly had you position yourself again. business had begun.
“this was a method i picked up from toph while korra was poisoned. with a few adjustments, i am confident it’ll rid you of the weight and the what if’s. now, i know it’s going to seem impossible to go through again, but in order for it to work, you can’t freak out. you just have to remember that i am right in front of you. nothing will go wrong so long as you listen to my voice.” she spoke softly. you nodded in understanding.
“close your eyes, clear your mind, and focus. take yourself back to guan’s laboratory.” she instructed, and you obliged. your breathing was labored, but you did your best.
suyin had tasked herself in taking down a brainwashed bolin, and korra had already started sparring with commander guan. which left you with mako. without hesitation red flames were sent your way. ducking, you bended icicles, tossing them towards the firebender. he turned them to steam, giving you enough time to run towards him. there was a hint of hesitation as you were about to make the punch. your hesitation had been a mere moment of weakness in his eyes as he grabbed onto your lifted arm, twisting it behind you. you yelped, elbowing his stomach.
“you’re okay. you fought well. that fight is over.” jinora reassured. you tried your best to calm your breathing.
the remaining water around you had been used to make a rope. you knew it was a bad idea, but at this point you knew it was too personal. you couldn’t hurt him. bending the water around his wrists, your plan was to knock him unconscious by slamming him into a wall. but he moved quickly. yanking your makeshift rope, he pulled you forward. the heat creeped up on you. it consumed you.
your eyes split open and you let out a sob. you jumped, running over to the balcony of the pavilion, letting out the contents of your stomach. wiping your mouth, you then buried your face in your hands. jinora’s eyes widened, and she moved over next to you.
“i can’t do this!” you repeated, burying your head into your hands. you groaned in frustration. she hesitated as she rubbed your back. you didn’t push her away, and she sighed.
“it’s only your first day trying, of course it’s going to take some time to get over something like this. but i understand if you want to stop for today, maybe dad can find an alternative for you.” she offered, and you lifted your head, shaking it.
“didn’t you say you could use your spirit energy to help me get rid of the nightmares? how does that work?” you sniffled, and jinora nodded.
“when appa had been taken, guru pathik crossed paths with him. he was so traumatized after what he had been through, that guru pathik focused on appa’s energy to rid him of the nightmares. i think it would have been easier to try that first before having you relive it. unless you’d like to try the method again, i’d say that was stupid on my part. i’m sorry.” she frowned.
“don’t apologize. you’re already doing so much by attempting to help me. i owe you for that. so, how about i make it up to you? let’s head to republic city and get smoothies. my treat.” you asked, and she crossed her arms.
“if this is your attempt at pushing your trauma back into your mind where you’d like it to be forgotten, no thank you.” jinora raised her eyebrows, and you groaned.
“i hate your intellect. but fine, let’s do this.” you already took a deep breath, settling into your position. she smiled.
“there’s the y/n i know. you’re working towards the real you already.”
hours were spent in the meditation pavilion that day, and you made some real progress. during lunch, you even pushed yourself to try and talk to mako. unfortunately, the push was a bit too much when no words came out and you evaded his eyes again. you saw a flicker of hope and it utterly destroyed you. it made you sweat. ultimately evading his gaze, you had gone to jinora to rant about your feelings. you were relieved to hear how nice her advice sounded. shaking off those thoughts, as the sky faded into black, you laid on your bed, staring at the ceiling. jinora had sat in a chair beside your bed. silence consumed the room when you tilted your head towards her.
“you know, it takes a while for me to fall asleep. you’re only going to have a small window of time before i wake up crying again.” you worried, and jinora waved you off.
“i can handle it. just trust me, i’ll be here when you wake up."
jinora was right, she was there when you woke up. you smiled to yourself, realizing her attempt was successful. you hadn't woken up with heavy breaths and tear stained cheeks. though, you frowned as she curled up in your chair. you didn't want to wake her, she needed the rest. so instead, you grabbed your blanket, tucking it around her and adjusting her pillow. stretching, you left a note explaining your early leave at your bedside as to not scare her. walking to the meditation pavilion, a sense of serenity and power flowed through you as the moon shined above you. you don't know how long you stood there, but the sun had just creeped slightly. unbeknownst to you, mako had been behind you.
"what are you doing up?" the familiar voice rang in your ears, and you tensed. you bended the water out of your flask, ready to strike. the firebender stopped his flame, keeping his hands up in defense. your mind went rapid, you wanted to get out of there. there was no way you could be with mako alone. not now.
never letting your guard down, he had walked towards you. you tried your best to leave without having to do anything rash. but your eyes blurred as tears threatened to escape. you crumbled. as the water fell to your feet, you cried, sliding down to the floor. mako softened, kneeling before you. reaching for your shoulder, you jerked his hand away. hurt flashed his features, but instead took a seat next to you.
"what- what are you still doing here?" you choked out, and he raised an eyebrow.
"i'm trying to make sure you're okay?"
"you should go. please." the absolute heartbreak in your tone hit his heart. he made no effort to move. shaking his head, you looked to his hands.
“no, i'm not leaving here until i know you're okay." he insisted and you exhaled in frustration.
"i'm fine mako, now leave." he crossed his arms.
"if you look me in the eyes and tell me you're okay, then i'll leave." he huffed, and your eyes widened. you stood, finally mustering up the strength to walk away. but mako was stubborn, and caught up to you. gently catching your wrist, you stiffened. you could feel the ghostly throbbing in your shoulder, fragments of that memory flashing through your eyes. you made no effort to turn around as he let go of you.
"i can't look you in the eyes." you admitted.
"why not?"
"because…”
“that’s not a valid reason, y/n.”
“you really wanna know?! every time i stare at them, i feel like i'm going to die. don't you remember what you did to me?" you asked, your back facing his. a soft "no." rippled through the air, and more tears trickled.
"think back. you must have remembered what happened when guan brainwashed you."
“i don't remember anything actually. all i know is one minute i'm attacking guan, the next i'm waking up to wu hugging me. korra had to explain we were brainwashed, and that you didn't come with her to see it happen because you were scared. so what did i do? what happened to us, y/n?" he choked out the last part, wiping his tears.
"you were like this empty shell of yourself when we went to stop guan. it scared me, but i knew i was going to have to fight you if we were going to save you. i was fine at first, all you did was twist my arm, bruise me up. but then, guan..." you explained, your walls breaking.
“what did he do?" he asked, eyes darkening. you knew he was afraid of the answer. you slowly turned around with your eyes closed. hesitantly opening them, the light of yue's spirit gave you a view of his amber eyes. amber eyes that weren't dull or empty. but ones filled with life, ones filled with hurt and worry now. you gulped when his eyes widened.
"you were going to strike me with lightning, mako! and i was going to let you do it because i could never think about hurting you! if su hadn't gotten me out, who knows where i'd be." you started. "but i let that happen, at what cost? i'm not who i used to be. i'd rather let you break my heart into a thousand pieces if it meant not feeling so scared and stupid all the time. if it meant us going back to the way things were. but that's never going to happen." you cried out, and he stayed silent. he wanted to hold you in his arms, to tell you he was sorry, and to reassure you that it was over.
what he wanted to offer you, wasn't enough to make you feel better. and that hurt more than anything in the world.
instead, he closed his hand, leaving his pinky out for you. looking at him, he just wiggled his finger. skeptically, you did the same, reaching out for his hand. interlocking your pinkies together, you smiled to yourself when you didn't flinch at the warmth. the two of you faced the ocean, and no words were spoken as you did your best to go through this process.
breathing in, jinora's words echoed through your head. it's easy to do nothing, but it's hard to forgive. now remember, forgiveness is the first step you have to take to begin healing.
you knew this would take time, but at least you finally knew the answer to your six months of questioning and regret. it was forgiveness, and it was right in front of you this whole time. maybe with a little more time, you and mako would be ready to taking these challenges together. but for now, you'd relish in your first night of peace.
Story starts in season 1. Minor swearing and big time cuts. Y/N is 12 and jinora is a few months younger.

You aren’t a bender, keeping you safe from Amon’s stigma against them. He probably would kill you either way if he got wind of what you’re planning though. Not famous, not at all, but you are probably more powerful than many benders. With nerves of steel, guts of iron, and a giant iq and intellect, you could take down many groups of people on your own.
This time, you were hired to be the fallback for the United Nations army, in case their plan failed. As you expected, it did. Amon has reconnaissance everywhere, so he was easily able to turn back the attacks. Both Iroh and Bumi messed up, leaving the fate of republic city on your hands. Your first thing on your agenda is to go to a safe house, Air Temple Island, where you found Tenzin, who led you to the rebel hq. They greeted you, and you met Jinora, Ikki, Meelo, and other people like Korra and Mako. You got down to business immediately. “We all know Amon is getting too powerful so we have to act now. His weakest area is the sato mansion, so we load a bunch of people with weapons through there and boom! Case closed.” Asami looked down. Apparently she still hadn’t gotten over her dad’s treachery. They all agreed, and Iroh led the operation.
You, meanwhile, snuck off to the Equalist base and acted like a loyalist. “Sirs! Rebels are attacking through the tunnels in the sewers. They immediately brought their army to go fight, leaving the main force vulnerable.” The battle was on. Later with both sides suffering casualties, Korra confronted Amon. She accused him of being a bender, while Amon denied it. Then he was about to execute with fire, the airbenders.
You ran up on stage, and nabbed the fire stick, and trampled out the fire. Then, with an incredible speed, you cut their ropes and freed them. With a frightening move, you reappeared behind the Equalists and beat them hard, and vanished.
~~~ season 2 ~~~
While Team Korra had been seeing the outcome of the trial for Korra‘s dad, you were on a top secret investigation, trying to catch an international criminal who swindled many. You were led on a giant chase after this guy, and you finally found him. You burst into the court, and said calmly “By the order of the United Nations, you, judge, are under arrest.” Everyone looked stunned, shocked, or mad. Jinora had a blank, holy crap face on, and you smirked inwardly. The judge started to run, but with agility and speed, you caught him and he was exposed for his crimes.
Unalaq, in the meantime, had taken Eska and Desna to help free Vaatu. While Eska and Desna fough Mako and Bolin, you, jinora, and Korra fought unalaq. He was dodging attacks, and then suddenly destroyed Vaatu’s prison. He was free. Korra was blasted almost immediately, and jinora went to help, but you pulled her behind a rock. “If we go and fight, we will all die. We must ambush them.” She hesitated, but considering you were probably the smartest and most capable person for the job, she listened. You two hatched a plan, and put it into action.
With absolute stealth, you watched as Unavaatu teleported to Republic City, and Jinora and Korra chased after him with all sorts of spirit powers. Meanwhile, you had no transportation and were completely in the middle of nowhere. You traveled to witness the battle for yourself with the fastest motorboat in your possession. The plan wasn’t working. Unalaq and Vaatu merging threw a monkey wrench through the plan. Then, Korra was getting pinned and Jinora was gripped tightly, both about to die. “Hey punk-ass garbage!!!” you yelled. The giant looked down at you. “Yeah, that’s right I’m talking to you dumbass. You can’t hold a candle to a book cover. ” It gave you some satisfaction to know that you were seriously pissing him off. He let go of Jinora and Korra and came towards you, but even you couldn’t avoid contact. He stepped on you, crushing you. Luckily, you thought quick enough to grab a cushion as protection, and with supreme strength, only suffered a concussion, a coma, and 43 broken bones. Still better than being dead.
Jinora’s rage at this was crazy, although you were too close to being dead to see, but she struck Unavaatu hard with some spirit magic and destroyed him. But the deed was done, leaving you hospitalized for 10 months. Jinora sobbed secretly when seeing your heart monitor flat and let out a slow, smooth beep.
What woke you up, you don’t know. It coulda been the tv, speaking loudly of the air nation’s return. It coulda been Tenzin’s triumphant cry in response to the news. It coulda even been the jolt of electricity through your body when the power was cut off. But you awoke, making Jinora act on impulse and hug you tightly, with a cry of delight. You hugged her back, but pulled away when you made eye contact with Tenzin. That was definitely a reason to back off, so you don’t immediately die after escaping death.
You went with Jinora and the others to look through the Earth Kingdom for airbenders. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out very well. Basically every airbender was missing or too lazy to join. At one point, there was finally a willing person, about your age. His name was Kai. He said he needed to get away from the gangsters chasing him. The police arrived, and sorted the situation all out. Turns out Kai was a thief, and he lied. You notice Jinora blushing at Kai, and your anger prickled more. While the police were talking with Tenzin, Kai snuck away with Team Korra’s money, but you grabbed his collar and hip-tossed him back to the police. Jinora felt bad and asked if they could take him in, which the gang did, and Kai acted all cool. You whispered to him menacingly “Pull a stunt like that again and I’ll turn your face into the most screwed up piece of crap you’ll ever see in your life.” He nodded, and it pleased you to know that he shivered a bit.
In Ba Sing Se, it was very troubling knowing that airbenders were disappearing. Kai, despite your threat, tried again to steal Team Korra’s money, and got abducted by the Dai Li. It was a suspicion you had the entire time, after meeting the Earth Queen. You brought a friend of yours, an earth bender, and made him open Lake Laogai. What if the Earth Queen was avoiding the airbender question because she had them. And where better to hide them than the last place anyone would look. Sure enough, a tunnel underground was there. You snuck through, and found the Dai Li training the airbenders for their army. Kai was making a commotion and trying to act cool and powerful. The training session was over, and the leader of the Dai Li was strolling through the halls.
You came out of the shadows and choked him, making sure his respiratory system was going fast. He fell unconscious. You then took his uniform and disguised yourself, and went to unlock the airbenders cells. You succeeded, but the Dai Li got wind of what was happening. Just then, Team Korra arrived, and you rushed everyone out. You planted a bomb in the cave and your gang ran for it. The Dai Li pulled a last minute move and grabbed you with their rock gloves, and threw you into the place with them. Their expressions were saying that you’re going down with them. Of course, they could never compete. With speed and agility, you escaped by an inch with your life, leaving the now dead Dai Li wondering where you went til their last breath.
Of course, the team was shocked to see you alive, bruised sure, but alive. Jinora looked from Kai to you, and looked very embarrassed. You guessed what was going on in her head. But then, Kai looked at you and smirked. “She likes me more.” That was the limit to his bullshit. You tapped his shoulder as he walked away, letting him turn around, and then clocked him square in the face. He fought back, but what use could a useless, weak airbender do to the world’s most heroic and dangerous assassin? He got bloodied up hard and gave up trying to annoy you. Jinora looked anguished and wounded, and everyone looked shocked. But still. No matter how much of a piece of shit a boy is, you still live by the boy code. You helped him up, gave him an apology hug, and helped him walk. That was confusing for everyone, but there was still the code of the boys. People just wouldn’t get it.
At the Northern air temple, the airbenders were training hard. Jinora was watching with you, and she told you that she really liked what you did after beating up Kai. She didn’t like you beating him up, but it was honorable to help him up. “Thanks” you respond. She looks at you, amused. You look at her, with the most confused expression ever. She tells you “Can’t you take a hint?” “Um, no.” She leans in, and pecks you on the lips, and says “How about now?” “Yeah, I got that hint.” She laughs, and hugs you. This was the greatest feeling you’ve ever felt since your first successful mission.
Suddenly, an airship flies overhead, and Zaheer is visible, threatening the airbenders. P’li held the airbenders up, and you guys were trapped. Kai started running to distract P’li but she was about to blast him. With as much speed as you could muster, you ran to Kai and shoved him to the airbenders. You dodged the blast and threw a rock at P’li’s forehead, stopping her combustion bending, but she came at you. You engaged in a fierce duel, and turned her fire back on her. She stumbled off the cliff, defeated. The airbenders gave a big cheer and lifted you up, but none looked more proud (and relieved) than Jinora. You heard a loud moan, and saw Tenzin getting beat up hard by Zaheer, Ghazan, and Min hua. You rushed recklessly at Zaheer, but with a strategy. If Zaheer was taken out, it would shock the others for a second, leaving Tenzin time to knock them out. That’s what happened. Zaheer was taken completely off guard, and fell off the cliff. Unfortunately he could fly. Ghazan was hit full force by the airbenders, and Tenzin teamed up with you to start beating Min Hua. The victory was incredible. Zaheer lost his allies, and was imprisoned by Su Yin’s army, thanks to an epic capture by Kuvira.
~~~ Season 4 ~~~
Now, you and Jinora revealed your relationship to everyone, and Tenzin was fine with it, surprisingly. He said that he couldn’t stop it, and he wouldn’t, given what you had done for the air nation. That was the most important acceptance. Kai already apologized to you, and you two were already buddies. Kuvira was expanding territory and planned to take Zaofu and Republic City, but she was sorta friends with you. You talked her out of it and what could’ve been a nuclear war turned into a peaceful empire of the Earth Kingdom. Jinora and you hung out a lot, on dates mainly, and you went in air nation missions too, though not being a bender. All was well.
Hi ! I hope you’re having a good evening, I was hoping to request an imagine of Jinora from the Legend of Korra, I thought it could be like romantic and with fluff, where she and the female reader are girlfriends but nobody except Korra knows about it and her family discovers it and they’re like supportive of their relationship :)
(This is going to go along with my other Jinora x reader)
Ever since the night you spent in Jinora’s room, the two of you had began dating. The only person the two of you told was Kai and that was because he helped cover for you when you and Jinora wanted to spend alone time together. Neither of you wanted Tenzin or Lin to find out about your relationship with how bad their relationship ended. After everything that happened with Zaheer, you and Jinora barely got to spend as much time together. The last two times the two of you actually hung out was after she got her tattoos and after Korra left for the south pole.
---
You and your mom sat next to each other at the docks on air temple island. “I just don’t understand...” You take another bite of the roast duck your mom had smuggled onto the island. “How they don’t eat meat.” You finish your sentence as you swallow. Your mom just grunts as she takes a bite of her chicken in agreement. The party food was good but it was all vegan, not that you didn’t agree with their eating style it just wasn’t for you. “Y/n?” You heard someone say your name and turned around, duck hanging out your mouth, and saw Jinora standing at the beginning of the dock. You quickly swallowed the duck in your mouth before shoving the rest of it into your mom’s hands. You stood up and gave your mom a kiss on the head as a farewell before popping a mint in your mouth and walking over to Jinora. You missed the way your mom smirked, you might have been a Beifong and could hide secrets but she was your mom. Lin knew that there was something between you and Jinora. Luckily, she liked Jinora and had no problem with you dating her, not that she would admit to that. She also wasn’t surprised that Tenzin hadn’t figured it out yet. Lin watched with a small smile as you wrapped an arm around Jinora's shoulders before playfully rubbing her now bald head. Lin liked seeing you happy.
---
You stood at the docks as you watched everyone give Korra a hug goodbye, giving her one as well of course. You watched with sad eyes as Asami seemed to deflate as the boat slowly pulled away before shaking away her emotions and leaving the dock. You felt bad for Asami, it was obvious she had feelings for Korra and that it hurt that Korra didn’t want her to join her in the South Pole. You wrapped an arm around Jinora’s shoulder as the two of you returned to the air temple. You gave your mom a hug as she left the island on a boat with a few other people before going to Jinora’s room. You knocked on the door as you arrived and opened it when she didn’t respond. The sight before you broke your heart, Jinora was laying on her bed, head pressed against her pillow as she let out silent tears. You took off your jacket and boots before getting into the bed and pulling Jinora into you. “It’s okay... Korra is going to go to the South Pole, work her butt off, and return before you can blink.” You say trying to comfort Jinora. You knew that Jinora saw Korra as an older sister figure and looked up to her. “Everything will be okay...”
---
You and Jinora did find the odd times to have dates through out the next three year as you kept the peace and tried to help out with the Earth Kingdom and deal with whatever Kuvira was doing. You and Jinora made sure that if either of you got sent on a mission outside of Republic City that you were partnered together. When Korra returned home Jinora was ecstatic, three years was a long time. You, of course, were also happy for her return but that feeling was almost immediately replaced by embarrassment.
---
You watched with a big smile as Jinora lunged at Korra, both girls sporting a big smile as they wrap each other in a hug. “Wow, you’ve gotten tall.” Korra jokes as she notes that Jinora’s eyes line up with her chin. She looks behind Jinora and her eyes widen a little. “Holy spirits! You’re a giant now!” Korra exclaims as she gives you a hug. You let out a chuckle, “Yeah I finally got taller than Mako... It must be from my dad’s genes.” You release Korra from a hug and give Asami a smirk as she subconsciously leans closer to Korra as they stand next to each other. Your smirk is quickly wiped away as Korra asks a question. “So how long have the two of you been together?” Korra asks as she motions towards you and Jinora. You did a spit take in shock and coughed a little as Jinora rubbed your back, a blush prominent on her face. “How...” Korra looked at the two of you in confusion. “Are you guys not... I mean it just seemed obvious...” Korra voiced her confusion. “No we are dating... We just haven’t told anyone except for Kai.” “Oh... I can keep a secret.” Korra said with a smirk. “I figured it before Tenzin though, right?” Korra asks and beams when you and Jinora nod your head. “I can’t wait to rub it in his face when you both come out with your relationship. Make sure I’m there for that-” Korra gets cut off by a hard elbow to the stomach from Asami, who gives her a look. “I mean... I’m happy for you guys.” Korra says as she pulls you and Jinora into a hug.
---
“Go dance with her.” A person says as they put a hand on your shoulder. “Huh? What?” You say as you turn around and your eyes go wide as you see your mother standing there in her green dress. “C’mon kid, I’m not blind like your grandmother and even she could see that you and Jinora are together.” Lin says with a roll of her eyes and a slight smile. “You’re... You’re okay with it?” You ask nervously, you wouldn’t admit it but your mom’s approval meant a lot to you. “Does she make you happy?” Lin asks as she takes a seat across from you, making you hold eye contact with her as you answer. “All the time.” Lin shrugs her shoulder, “Then I don’t see the problem.” “But you and Tenzin...” Lin let’s out a groan. “Look I might not show or tell you this often, but I do love you y/n. You’re my kid and all I want is for you to be happy. If that’s with or with out Jinora, I have no problems.” You tear up at your mom’s words, happy she was so accepting of your relationship. “Spirits, weddings must make you emotional.” You jest as you stand up and fix the tie around your neck. “Wish me luck.” You say before heading towards Tenzin’s table that held his family, Korra’s family, and Asami. “You don’t need luck, you’re a Beifong.”
You could feel your hands shake more and more the closer you got to the table. You knew Jinora was ready to be out with your relationship and it was you that was scared of people’s reactions... Well not really other people’s reaction, just your mom’s and Tenzin’s. But if your mom was okay with it then Tenzin was going to have to be too. You made eye contact with Korra and Asami as you walked up to the table, both girls sending you encouraging smiles. “Ah, Y/n, you clean up nicely.” Tenzin says with a small smile as he notices you walk up. “What can I help you with?” Spirits, it’s so hot in here. You felt like you were sweating buckets at this point. “Actually...” You voice shook a little with nerves and you pulled the collar of your shirt some away from your neck like it was choking you. “Actually...” Deep breaths, you got this, calm, cool, and collected. You kept repeating to yourself over and over again, calming your nerves. “I actually came over to ask Jinora for this dance...” You state as you turn to look at your girlfriend, who was hiding the shock on her face, so you didn’t have to see Tenzin’s reaction. “I would love to.” Jinora said with a big smile before grabbing your hand and dragging you to the dance floor.
“I think I’m going to pass out.” You state as you and Jinora start swaying side to side in rhythm with the slow song that was playing. Jinora giggles at your statement before looking up at you. “I’m surprised you even did that.” “Yeah well, turns out I can’t hide anything from my mom.” Jinora laughs again as she rests her head against your chest. “Well my dad doesn’t seem to freaked out.” She states and you take a second to look over to the table you had just been at. Korra and Asami were gone, Korra’s parents were still talking to each other and eating, you could see a frowning Meelo handing money over to Ikki, and Pema held a big smile on her face as she tried to discipline Meelo and Ikki about betting and making sure Rohan didn’t make a mess. Tenzin, of course, was still in a state of shock. You nod your head, “Yeah could be worse.”
---
“So the two of you are in a serious relationship?” Tenzin asks as he stands next to you. You nod your head as you watch Jinora mess with Rohan at the table while Pema was dealing with Ikki and Meelo. “I'm in love her.” You state adamantly, “I have been for eight years.” Tenzin’s eye went wide, “Since you were fifteen?” “Yeah but don’t worry we’ve only been dating for three.” You say with a proud smile that didn’t go unnoticed by Tenzin. Tenzin places a hand on your should causing you to look at him. “I was definitely shocked earlier when you came and asker her to dance but I know you are a strong individual and capable of taking care of my daughter... If you don’t I will make sure some spirits will come and deal with you.” Tenzin says threateningly. “I would try in throw you in jail but I don’t think Beifong would go for that.” He states like it was an afterthought. “Okayyyy...” Jinora says as she breaks into the conversation and grabs your hand. “No more threatening my s/o please.” She says as she dragged you onto the dance floor for the second time that night. “He didn’t say anything else did he?” Jinora asks as she looks up at you worriedly. “Nothing to concerning.” You jest as you lean your head down towards Jinora and give her a goofy grin. “I love you.” Jinora rolls her eyes in response before giving you a smile, “I love you too.”
You had been around the air bending family since you could walk, much to your mothers dismay. Your mother was Lin Beifong and you were the product of a very drunk one night stand that made her realize that men weren't that great. She loved you either way and was pretty strict on you, remembering how loose her mother had been with her and Su. She also made sure to give you attention when she could, sometimes it was hard with being the Chief of Police. Luckily you understood how important her job is and would spend days on Avatar Island when Lin got too busy with work. You also liked hanging out on Avatar Island for two other reasons. One being that no one made fun of you for being the child of Lin Beifong and grandchild of Toph Beifong, two powerful benders, and being a non bender. Also Jinora lived on Avatar Island. You and Jinora had grown up together and at some point in time your platonic feelings for her turned into something more. Of course you never told her, your mom was Lin Beifong, Tenzin's ex-girlfriend. And if that wasn't bad enough you didn't know if she even liked you back or if you deserved her, being a non bender and all. Even though you were a non bender your mom made sure you could fight and you spent time practicing air bending moves with Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo, you even are able to go through the swinging walls with ease now.
When harmonic convergence happened, you went with the Avatar team to the South Pole. You know you couldn't do anything to help really, but you wanted to be there when Jinora woke up. And you were, after pulling her grandma into a tight , she noticed you over Katara's shoulder and after the hug threw herself into your arms. You buried your head into her shoulder and squeezed her super tight. You almost told her your feelings then and there, after realizing you could have lost her or the world could have ended today. But you refrained from doing so because of the big clean up everyone had to deal with. But you made sure to flirt more with her or compliment her, just trying to get her to blush. You even flirted with her in front of Tenzin, much to his dismay. One day, after Bumi had showed everyone he could air bend, you wished you could do the same too. So you found a quiet patch of grass, away from prying eyes and meditated, which was something you enjoyed doing even if you weren't an air bender. While meditating, your thoughts kept going back to Jinora who was showing Bumi air bending moves with Tenzin, Ikki, and Meelo. When suddenly you felt something in you shift and when you opened your eyes you were in the middle of the training area, Tenzin, Bumi, Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo all staring at you in shock. "How did I get here?" you asked, looking around for an answer. When you looked down you noticed that you were blue and floating above the ground. "Ahhh what happened!? Am I a ghost!?" "No your doing spiritual projection! Like I can do, that's amazing." Jinora said in awe, making you blush. "How do I stop? Does this mean I can air bend?"
Turns out you could bend, which led you to where you are now, in the Northern air temple. After releasing all those air benders from the Queen of Ba Sing Se, you didn't like her. You also didn't like this new kid Kai and it's not because of his past or anything like that. It was the fact that Jinora started practically ignoring you and spent all her time hanging and blushing around Kai. What you hadn't known was that Kai was encouraging her to confess her feelings to you, all those blushes you witnessed were over you. After watching Jinora blow up on Tenzin, you waited 10 minutes before going after her, wanting her to calm down some before hand. When you got to her, you saw her and Kai standing on the railing about to fly away. You heart at the fact that Jinora was just gonna leave without you. You turn to leave but accidentally kick a rock making noise. When you look back you see Jinora blushing and Kai sporting a big grin, making you smile back nervously. "Hey y/n, we were gonna go see some baby bison if you want to come with us." Kai offered, taking a quick peek at Jinora with a smirk. "Sure." you say awkwardly, not really wanting to go but you needed to talk to Jinora at some point.
As you flew, you caught up to Jinora before putting your back towards the ground and fly under Jinora. "Did I do something wrong?" Jinora looked down startled to see you right under her, causing her to blush. "No." she said simply with a small smile before flying down towards where the baby sky bison were the day before. "Where are all the bison?" Kai asks and as soon as he does Jinora gets caught in a net. "Jinora!" you yell before turning where to see the net came from. You fought with the bison hunters, while Kai tried to free Jinora from the nets he got caught too. "Kai!" you yelled turning to him as you watch him hit the ground next to Jinora, who's eyes widen. "Look o--" Jinora said before you felt your body get launched into the air and slammed to the ground. Before you pass out, you make eye contact with Jinora, who has fear written in her eyes.
You groan, as you wake up, feeling yourself leaning against something warm. You blink your eyes a couple times to try and clear your eyes. When your eyes finally clear up, you look up to see what you had been leaning against Jinora, which causes you to blush. Feeling your movement Jinora pauses her conversation with Kai to turn and look at you. When she sees you already looking at her she gives a small smile and blushes. "I'm so glad your awake." She says as she wraps her arms around you lightly in a hug. After you hug, you try and sit up only to groan in pain. "What happened?" Jinora bit her lip in worry, "You got practically body slammed into the air and then ground. You need to be careful, you probably broke something." You nod your head in understanding, just now finally noticing the small room your in and the bars. "What the hell? Why are we in a cage?" "It's the bison hunters, they are taking bison to the Earth Queen." Kai says from another side of a wall with anger in his voice. "Does anyone know we're missing yet?" "I sent a spirit to tell Bum-Ju, who hopefully got Uncle Bumi's attention." You nod your head in understanding and you all sit in silence for a minute, before you hear noise from Kai's cell. Next thing you see is Kai's face smiling in front of your cage. Before he can start unlocking your cage Jinora interrupts him, "Get the bison first." You nod your head in agreement before watching Kai get launched away from the cages.
"Crap." You say as you watch Kai get into a fighting stance. You sit up from leaning against Jinora, wrapping an arm around your ribs in pain, to get a better look at what was happening. Jinora sits up as well, still keeping an eye on you. You get a smile on your face when you see all the new air benders come rushing in to aide Kai. While they're fighting, Kai manages to free 1 of 2 other bison before getting to your and Jinora's cage. Before he can even start unlocking it, he gets earth bended away from the truck before the truck takes off. From the break neck speed the truck goes, you and Jinora slam back against the wall, both of you making sounds of pain from the force of the impact. After a few minutes of driving, you peek out and look towards the front of the truck from in between the bars. Right as you did, you saw a full grown bison land in front of the car and slam it's tail against the ground. Before you could think about what you were doing, you turned around fast and pulled Jinora into your chest. You shut your eyes waiting for impact, which means you didn't see Jinora blush at your actions.
When the wave of air hit it caused the truck to flip. After the first flip you tighten your hold on Jinora and feel your back hit the bars over and over again. When it finally stops, you feel like you can breath again. You loosen your hold on Jinora, wanting to make sure she's okay before passing out from pain. When you look down and notice that Jinora had a tight grip on your shirt and her eyes were squeezed shut. "Jinora." You whisper, fighting the black dots that clouded your vision. Jinora loosens her hold on your shirt and looks up, her eyes widen. "Oh my spirits! You're bleeding!" Jinora says, you just smile before saying, "I'm gonna pass out now."
When you awake your on a bed in the air temple. When you sit up you groan in pain and notice the bandage around your stomach and one on your temple. You sit up slowly and grab your glider to use as a cane. (Like how Aang does when he wakes up after getting struck by lightning.) You start heading outside to find anyone but notice that it's night time and head to Jinora's room instead. You knock on her door, hoping she's not asleep, and turn to leave when she doesn't open the door. Right as you turn around, however, the door opens and Jinora pops her head out. When she meets your eyes, hers widen and she opens the door all the way. She pulls you into the room, mindful of your injuries, and makes you sit down on the bed. "Why are you out of bed?" Jinora questioned, arms crossed in front of her chest. You just shrug, "I woke up by myself and wanted to see where everyone else was. "Did all the baby bison get free? You didn't get injured too did you?" You respond, asking your own questions. Jinora just shakes her head in amusement by the fact that you were more worried about everyone else, when you were the one most hurt. "Yes, we got all the baby bison and no one was hurt. Which reminds me... What were you doing!? I know you didn't want to see me hurt but you were already injured! I could have handled being thrown around, you body couldn't!" You had never seen Jinora mad before, but you also didn't see what she was like when you passed out in the truck. Jinora couldn't get the sight of your bloody head out of her memory. "Jinora!" you say as you pull her into you when she suddenly starts crying, the position slightly awkward because you still sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Look I'm sorry I worried you. I know you can handle yourself, I just don't like seeing you hurt when I could have done something about it." Jinora sniffles some, keeping her face pressed into your neck. "Why?" That question was simple, so why did it make your heart beat so hard. You knew why, you were gonna tell the truth. No half-assed because you care about her, nope, you were gonna be completely honest. "Well I don't know how to say this, or how you'll react but just no that you'll always be my friend." Your sentence caused Jinora to sit up, she had never seen you so nervous before. Making eye contact with her, you let out a deep breath. "Jinora... I like you more than a friend. And it's okay if you don't feel the same, I've noticed how close you've gotten to Kai over the last couple of weeks." Jinora was shocked by your confession. You liked her too? Kai would never stop teasing her for how he was right and that your feelings for each other were shared. You on the other hand took Jinora's shock in a bad way. "I should probably see myself out." You said as you untangled from her and grabbed your glider. As soon as you stood up, however, you got tugged back by Jinora. Before you could ask anything, you were pulled into a kiss. Your eyes widened in shock before returning the kiss. Holy spirits, you thought, I can't believe this is happening! As you both pull away from the kiss. "If it's not clear by now I feel the same way y/n." You just nodded dumbly in understanding, still in shock over the kiss. Before you could say anything Jinora yawns, "We can talk more in the morning but we should probably go to bed." You just nodded your head again before grabbing your glider to leave. "Where are you going?" Jinora asked as you moved towards the door. "You said go to bed..." You replied as you mumbled out a few other excuses to try and lessen the blush on your face. Jinora just chuckled at how adorable yo looked rambling.
