Dead Land's Border — after cast, 'punishment' for 'efforts' are given. The faster you run, the slower you are. The more you shout, the less chances your voice will be heard by others. If you stay still, your existence is 'gone' until deactivation.

Bonus: you can summon Jio if you say their real name 4 times. This is the only reason why Jio doesn't give out his real name.

After a mistake of giving out his real name, he evidently never did it again after all the generations who knew his name finally passed because of how annoying it was trying to hunt down a resentful ghost only to suddenly get summoned to a random ritual.

Jio goes by any pronouns because spirits didn't have the concept of gender. Everyone at NRC just kinda assumes Jio is a guy because of how the school is and he doesn't try to correct it because again, they go by any pronouns and doesn't care what they think he is

When they were sorted, Lilia had a suspicion, especially the hair, but he couldn't quite put a finger on it because of how blurry Jio is in his memories. Jio also had a suspicion about Lilia because of his voice but he dismissed it

the new member! Meet Ananta (spirit name Khusyananopi), he's related to Jio :)) they have a little sibling/older sibling relationship though they're not actually blood related.

Jio technically raised him actually. When Ananta was Khusyananopi and was only recently able to explore the world, Jio found him and helped him understand this world. Jio and Ananta are spirits that were preborn with knowledge, but what they lacked was experience. Ananta knew why things died, but he never experienced things dying (he experienced it very soon though because he was born in a forever-snow place.)

Ananta's unique magic originated from the amount of times Jio got locked up and shackled. One time, Jio got locked away for a really long time. When he returned, Ananta feared the day he was going to get seperated from Jio again, and so he began practicing his unique magic which just straight up locked Jio in the same sense except now he's not seperated from him!

yeah Ananta overblotted some time later. How could you tell. Anyway that was before NRC so his "gilded bird cage" mentality got calmed and tempered. Now he's only slightly pressed about safety rules (the lingering fear that Jio will be taken away)

and is EXTREMELY pressed that he didn't get in the same dorm as Jio. (Tbh the funny thing is that they got each other's dorms. Ananta was suppose to be in pomefiore and Jio was suppose to be in savanaclaw but the mirror kinda fucked up and misplaced them.)

oh yeah his favorite food is grilled fish and fish soup because Jio used to make them when they were travelling the forever-snowing place. It was warm, especially warm in such a cold place even if he was a spirit and even if he was born in it. He liked it a lot.

so not-so-fun facts about Jio and Ananta's relationship

Jio is a tiger beastman while Ananta is a leopard beastman. One of Jio's curses is that he can only be satiated by drinking the blood of his loved ones until they die.

you can... kind of see where this is going. Normally Jio is fine, he's used to it, suppresses his emotions and distance himself well enough that the hunger is only on the edges. There's no one that he loves, no one to be a victim of his own punishment that only he should bear.

He adopted Ananta out of pity, but he remembers. The times when he looked at the little boy and all that he felt was hunger.

Since when did he relax his iron hold on his feelings? He doesn't know. He tried demonizing the snow leopard in his mind but all he could feel was both guilt and the nauseating feeling of hunger.

Jio licked his lips, feeling his mind go cloudy and numb. 'dulchis puer...' He paused in his thoughts. Sweet child. ......

Sweet as in the taste. Btw.

Also one time the hunger got so bad that when Ananta got injured Jio just straight up licked the wound bc the blood was so damn tantalizing.

he hated himself before, but after that he lowkey wanted to bite the curb.

Luckily he did some good things in the past so he also had a blessing where his saliva could heal wounds quicker but. He. Genuinely. Forgot. It's been a while okay the last time he did that was to a nocturnal fae soldier during the war and that was like hundreds of years ago ofc he'd forget

i've decided to change ananta's and jio's... everything, LOL. Overhaul time!!!

Changes i made (ahem patch notes):

– Jio has tiger ears and tail now

– In the twst version, theyre not spirits anymore. Instead, Jio and Ananta become "ordinary" beastmen. Ordinary is in quotes because Jio had a curse placed on him a long time ago as a punishment and it was along the lines of something to do with a long and miserable life of watching all of your loved ones die as you live on.

– the king title of khusyananopi isn't present for ananta. However, he does extremely pressure himself into becoming stronger so that he can one day undo atleast the worst of Jio's curses

– Ananta gets a 3 centimeter height increase

– instead of getting locked up every few years because of breaking the rules of spirits, in the twst version its instead that he has several curses on him from a long time ago due to punishments of his crimes and above everything else.

– Ananta's unique magic, One Way Home, will be slightly tweaked in the sense that both prisoner and Ananta get transported into the subspace and in the subspace no one will feel pain until they get out.
