Designer @punitbalanaofficial of label Punit Balana took over the ramp at the Summer/Resort 2019 Lakme Fashion week to showcase his new collection "Maya", where @therealkarismakapoor graced the ramp at @lakmefashionwk Maya is an ode to to the leading character of the 1993 movie "Maya Memsaab" which was based on the French novel Madam Bovary. "While the free spirited Maya Memsaab embarks the inspiration behind the collection, we stay true to our roots mixing our signature block prints, using natural organic dyes, colours and eco friendly techniques and cultural shapes" says Punit Balana. For the SS' 19 Collection, they have explored the contrast between linear shapes and fluid designs, creating silhouettes in Chanderi, silk and mull. Her Orissan inspired collection "Versapalli' was a delight for the eyes with beautiful handcrafted fabrics and weaves. The attires looked perfect for the summer and holiday season. The show witnessed a unique fashion presentation with models showcasing exquisite Tahweave creations, giving the viewers a spectacular show of ethnic charms from the Orissan Culture. The front row saw an array of names enjoying the Ikkat printed, easy-breezy wear, in lovely sumer shades and silhouettes. Sweta said. "I design for people who are modern yet rooted with tradition. The design philosophy is to keep it clean, simple and experimental".
