Taking A Breather - Wings vs Stars - Nov. 3, 2002
A sobering reminder to renew your CPR and AED training.
What happened to Damar Hamlin. That young man had possibly suffered an episode of commotio cordis
I remember former Red Wings player Jiri Fischer had collapsed from the same condition and heart defect almost died. He was saved by CPR and AED.
That gift is his 15-year-old son, Compuware defenseman Lukas Fischer.
“Yesterday I would not have believed/That tomorrow the sun would shine...” (”Alive Again” by Chicago) During a 2005 game, professional hockey player Jiri Fischer suffered a frightening seizure. Thankfully, he was revived. A few weeks later, with tears of joy, he said: “I’m really, really glad to be here. Not too many people get a second chance, like I did.” The good news is that it is possible to feel renewed without going through a serious crisis. (Photo taken on February 18, 2019)
