Help
Pairings: fem!reader x Kim Minji / Jiu
Warnings: none, just a fluffy high school au :> (I forgot how math works lol so there might be mistakes in the nonsense equation that I made)
----------
A certain purple-headed girl groans for the nth time after seeing her score from the previous test that she took in mathematics. It wasn’t really her weakness, but the continuous relays of assignments and quizzes were really getting into Minji’s nerves.
“Ugh… I failed the test again.” She muttered under her breath as her two friends beside her crackled at the older’s state.
“It’s okay unnie, at least you’ll get to hang out with your Y/n~” Sua poked fun at Minji’s little feelings for you.
“Get lost bitch. I’m heading out now.”
The flustered girl quickly arranged her things and shoved it inside her bag before sauntering out the classroom, not bothering greeting her friends a goodbye since they will tease her endlessly again. Their teacher asked for Minji’s presence at the faculty due to her grade issues which is pretty much expected since her scores have been plummeting down for a while now.
If she does fail within these circumstances, you were always assigned to tutor her. You did found her interesting because you know she’s secretly smart, but unfortunately, she’s just lazy.
It was around 3 in the afternoon when you’re walking towards the faculty room, you knocked gently and went inside while greeting the teachers politely. Mrs. Kim, your math teacher asked you to tutor Minji again which you agreed without a doubt.
“Good afternoon, Y/n. I’m sorry about the inconvenience, it’s just Kim Minji is failing in my subject again.” Mrs. Kim stated humbly with a sigh falling from her lips.
“It’s fine, Mrs. Kim. Does she only fail on one subject?” You asked.
“It seems like it, here take a seat.”
You nodded and took a seat in front of the older’s table while waiting for Minji’s arrival.
Many teachers admire you due to your academic excellence and that goes the same with the students of your school. You always participated in different categories of quiz bees, journalism, and sometimes athletic meets. After all those achievements, you still stayed humble and always treated the people around you kindly, making it a cherry on top.
This school year was different though, you met this purple-headed girl in front of the principal’s office and learned that she was a transferee alongside her two best friends, Sua and Siyeon. You remembered that they were having a hard time navigating throughout the building so you offered to help them.
Since then, you guys would occasionally greet each other in the hallways, school programs, and whenever you bump to each other.
“Mrs. Kim! I’m really sorry that I’m late. Mr. Choi had overtime with us so we got out a little later than usual.”
You turned your head to see Minji breathing heavily while leaning against the panel which separates each teacher’s space in the faculty.
“Yah, Kim Minji is there any more trouble that you can cause? God, just sit down already.”
When the three of you had settled down calmly, Mrs. Kim talked about different kinds of consultation that Minji can use to improve her grades. You just sat there silently waiting for the older to finish her scolding.
You leaned back on the chair and discreetly stared at the girl beside you, feeling your warm gaze burning through her, Minji immediately glanced at you before her checks reddened after you sent her a flirty wink.
“…so that’s all that I have to say. Y/n, please take care of Minji for me, okay?” The teacher sent you a smile before you answered her with a nod.
“Then you girls can go, I expect you to be in good hands, Kim.”
—
Minji held into the straps of her backpack as she waited for you to arrange your books on your own locker.
“We’ll work on mathematics today, am I right?” You started a conversation while glancing at the purple-headed girl beside you.
“Huh? Uhm yeah, I’m sorry if Mrs. Kim assigned you with me again.”
You just chuckled lightly before patting Minji’s head.
“It’s fine, I’ll do anything for you…” You whispered the latter part but it didn’t go unnoticed by Minji.
“Anyways, where do you want us to stay, the cafe or the library?”
“Uhm I’ll go with the cafe for now.” The girl said.
You cleared your throat after realizing that you were staring at the latter too much.
“Okay. Let’s go, shall we?” You smiled gently before leading the way to the cafe that’s just a few blocks away from the school.
When you guys reached the small coffee shop, you asked Minji what drink she wanted as you ordered it as a treat.
After a few minutes, you finally received your order before scanning the crowd to find a particular purple-headed girl. You saw her sitting by the window while she looked at busy scenery outside, you felt the heat creeping into your cheeks after appreciating her beauty before shrugging it off and waddled to the occupied table.
“Hey, so can you tell me where you’re having a problem with?” You passed her cup of coffee before sipping on to the frappuccino that you bought.
“Thank you for this drink, and uhh I think I’m having a hard time understanding the hypotenuse thingy.”
“I see, can I borrow your notebook?”
Minji handed her notebook to you as you started to formulate a random example that you can use to show a further explanation for the topic.
You faced the notebook towards the girl in front before asking her to answer the equation provided. She shuffled awkwardly in her seat which made you chuckle and hold her left hand that was resting on the table.
“It’s okay even you get it wrong at first, I’ll teach you everything that you need to now after you tried answering my example.” You reassured the latter while caressing the back of her hand using your thumb.
Minji nodded slowly, a smile slowly appearing on her face. She grabbed a pencil and began to solve the problem as she frowned cutely which made you chuckle silently. Her head cocks to the side then a pout suddenly crept into her lips.
“Oh, uhm, should I multiply this then carry it over to this number and divide it by 5?” She looked up while scratching her not so itchy nape.
“Nope, you should calculate this in feet first before going on to the solution. So…”
While you continued to explain the topic properly, Minji couldn’t help herself but watch how you passionately teach her the equation properly. It made her heart beat wildly as she gulped nervously due to the close proximity between the two of you.
“Y/n.” She called out.
“Hmm?” You gave your attention to her from the notebook on your hands.
“I want you to always help me.”
She blurted out suddenly which caught you off guard. A little laugh fell out from your lips before you replied.
“Of course, it’s been like that for a few months now.”
“Oh, right…” You saw a hint of disappointment in her expression as you realized that what you said meant different from what you intended to.
You decided to stand up and seat beside the empty stool beside Minji, holding one of her hands in the process.
“And I’ll be glad to do it for a long run of time.” You held her chin within your fingertips and faced the girl.
A big smile instantly erupts from Minji’s face as you leaned in a placed a kiss on her forehead.
“Uhm now, shall we continue on the solution?”
Your blooming relationship then started from that day as the two of you were each other’s source of help.
~the end~
