Photo of me by Talia Hershewe, taken at Washburn Point in Yosemite National Park
Sometimes in order to see the scale of a natural location, it’s best to put a subject in front of it which completely opens up a greater sense of depth and dimension. The red rocks in the Valley of Fire State Park near Las Vegas are a photographer’s dream. Just like cranking up the saturation slider in post processing, but now subjected to the whims and mercurial nature of natural light. Since it’s so incredibly hot in southern Nevada it was a necessity to get up at 4am just so we can drive from Vegas and catch the sunrise on this magnificent Martian landscape. Shot with the Nikon D750 and 24-70mm f/2.8.
