🎯🎯🎯. This when ppl say he's a good liar and that he is so fake. Well obviously he's not a good liar if U don't believe him😭😭. Like George has a very obvious pr persona to me which he Def plays into a bit which is like the posh thing and like the very particular British phrases like "oh sugar!" "Blimey" etc. I think he's just a very guarded person and also superrr awkward. Like looking at the iwc ads with Eileen gu, he looks like he's about to crawl out of his skin. I really only ever see him being his genuine self around Alex albon. Like genuinely I never got the "George is so good at manipulating ppl, you can never tell what's he's thinking" but I genuinely feel like he's kinda easy to read?? Like maybe Im just too clocked into his russellisms but idk I feel like he's quite unsubtle.

i think in general fans need to be aware that all drivers have pr personas and most things we see are heavily filtered by themselves and their teams.

honestly idk if he plays up his britishness tho for the pr persona because most people react poorly to his "posh" britishness or british banter/sarcasm. i think hes js tryna be funny saying all that. and i mean i like him more for it but pr is meant to better his public image for the general public not his fans and that one guy who defends him because of max verstappen (me).

around alex hes a lot more relaxed and he comes off more natural. but i dont rlly think any of the drivers are their "genuine" selves when cameras are on them, or at least if they are, its heavily curated snippets.

i also think george is quite unsubtle but i know less about his russellisms lol. to me, he comes off as really blunt like max, but he'll generally try to have more tact lmao. its an odd combo that makes me like him but other people find it off putting.

I agree that gr63 is not really good at pr, but he tries really hard. Some of the issue might come from the trying making everything feel unnatural and contrived. He just doesn't make anything come across as effortless at all. It's part of the reason I like him, but it seems to also be a reason he is not that palatable to others.

oh no yeah he definitely tries hard at pr. i didnt really mention that because i assumed it was a given with the being bad at pr rather than lack of trying to do pr, my bad.

in regards to the effortless thing, ive talked about the whole inability to be effortless too, albeit was in a russtappen post (...), but its honestly strange because george isn't the only one who comes off unnaturally or cant make shit seem effortless.

yet all the other drivers never get as much flack as he does.

it honestly seems to be a combination of fans not picking up when george is JOKING because a) they dont understand banter/sarcasm and/or b) his humour just didn't land even if they understand, finding him off-putting because they dislike how his effort is not "cleanly" expressed or that its expressed at all, and obviously, his unnatural vibe whenever he attempts to be diplomatic.

and tbh i wouldnt even call myself a gr63 fan, i do like him, its just not like i LIKE him, ykwim?

which is really funny because i have too many drafts delving into the topic of gr63 and fans' perception (and misconceptions) of him, and theyre all deeply defensive of him, maybe i'll post them all for my gr1 defender moots lol.
