I want so badly for Santana to have a good happy life even after BT. Because he slept peacefully, but he was forcibly awakened by the damn Nazis who thought they were gods and his possible weapon of war. They fed him the blood of captured Mexican civilians, they laughed at him when he first woke up and tried to figure out what was going on, and attacked him when he got out and tried to defend himself.

He just woke up and already so much shit had happened.

And here Joseph could have had peaceful conversations and negotiations, but he decided he was going to be a clown. And he provokes Santana to be unnecessarily angry and aggressive.

Everything could have gone without fights, but because of Joseph, Santana is trapped in stone under the ultraviolet in the Speedwagon Foundation.

Joseph afterwards found it easier to cooperate with the Nazis than to try to find common ground with the pillarmen (if you remember, they all walked silently and quietly past the protagonists, but they had only German blood on their hands). and where Stroheim stole Santana's "body horror idea" for his cyborg body without any problem or hesitation.

Joseph, literally the one who destroyed an ancient species, believing that saving humanity as a reason to dispose of other people's ancient lives, and hold one of them captive by the Foundation.

An interesting argument, and while I will give you how Santana woke up in Literally The Worst Possible Scenario and the assholes got what was coming for them, I do have a counter point when it comes to how Joseph falls into things

Joseph did try to peacefully negotiate and Santana was the one who initiated the fight with him

after Santana killed the soldiers, you're right in how Joseph did his silly song and dance this. However, immediately after Stroheim very loudly yelled at him about it only for Joseph to argue back that what Santana had done was entirely in self defense, that they'd been experimenting and shooting at him, and that it was their own fault he fought back. He then says the only reason he was here was to take his uncle home and he had no desire to fight Santana

And Santana..... really didn't give a shit. He didn't respond at all and instead started taking apart a gun, and then when Joseph started tapping him he immediately tried to eat him without warning. Then Santana went to Speedwagon, who was visibly bandaged, elderly and immobile, and shoved his hand into his brain which was visibly and audibly very painful for the man

while Joseph was being a little shit ad a bit annoying, that is no excuse for attempted murder. Self defense with the Nazis had been excusable and honestly perfectly fine by me, but how he reacted to Joseph was not self defense. Between the two of them, he was the first one to use a force with the intent to maim and/or kill, and Joseph responded in kind

as for the other Pillarmen...... yeah they're far from innocent. They commit 2 genocides (Pillarmen and Ripple Clan), killed an unknown amount of other humans, and Joseph was quite literally forced into killing them via the death rings. If he didn't, he would be the one to die instead
