New Ermes Costello drawing. I wanted to render this one but I just got a ton of work on the lab so I didn't have the time. I hope you like it since this was a kinda quick illustration.
PS: I'm falling asleep while I post this so, bye bye 💤
I finished this art before I had changed my Watermark so that's why it still looks like my old one! You thought it would be LMK or FNAF art I had posted, but it was JOJO! (PLEASE DO NOT STEAL OR REPOST!) Also for any JJBA fans, comment on who's your favourite Character, for me it's zipper mom and Polnareff ^^
Warnings: slight spoilers? Unsure but I’ll give a warning just in case even tho it’s mostly an AU that lived in my head (also yes I know this is sappy but that’s what I live for 😭)
Desc: Near a private beach of Florida Jotaro and his daughter Jolyne go on a fishing trip to make up for lost time and to make amends in their relationship after getting a second chance
(little thing, this is fairly old but I wanted to post this somewhere for awhile but never really knew where to post it might be formatted a bit weird too since it’s fairly old and I’m new to this but I hope you guys enjoy it)
Outside on the beachside of Florida the seagulls called as the sun started to awake from its slumber, slowly seeping its light across the beaches to spread along to the town, reaching the way through a window partially covered by the red fabric of the curtains, the young woman groaned and turned the other way, not wanting to get up just yet however her hopes of sleeping in was up too high as a tall figure entered the room.
“Oi Jolyne, breakfast is on the table.”
“Hnnnm alright.”
She got up and changed before leaving the bedroom to join her father, Jotaro at the table. There was two plates both having bacon and some pancakes with syrup on the center of the table and they both sat across from one another. The home was fairly cozy, not too large nor small, brown wooded floors and some wood lining around the door frames or on the walls which were white and blue, and the house was mostly decorated with many things such as shells, photos of sea animals and even different teeth or sea creature sculptures on display, She thanked her dad quietly before going to eating a bit of the pancake, slicing it into tiny pieces for her to eat, The room was mostly silent until it was broken by Jolyne.
“Geez dad why did we have to wake up so early? the suns barely up yet”
He simply picked up the small brown book on the table and opened it, reading a bit of it while taking a small sip of coffee before answering,
“I have something planned today, I thought it would be a good idea, and to make up for lost time..”
He looked away after that last statement Jolyne just finished some of the pancakes and looked up at him,
“well what is it?”
“You’ll see, just be patient.”
He had a small smile form as he took his now empty plate into the sink, and started preparing things as she was finishing the bacon, once it was finished she got up from her chair and went over to get her jacket, it was like her fathers but a pinkish orange with her name written on the arm sleeves, knowing how it might be kinda chilly, She walked her way to the car but noticed how her father was going else where.
“We’re not taking the car.”
Was all he said, he motioned his hand for her to come over so she did and they both started walking on the sidewalk and then into a trail in the little area of trees looking kind of like a forest but not as big.
“Where the hell are we going?” She thought of herself following him through the thicket until they reached the end on the trail to see a beach, a private one it seems, it was so beautiful under the orange and yellow hues yet nobody was around, looking around she saw a dock in the distance, fairly small and made of wood but she also saw a white and blue boat resting there, drifting with the waves yet staying in the same spot, Jotaro rested his hand on her shoulder for a moment looking in the same direction as her.
“Lets go.”
They started walking towards it, and the closer they walked to the boat the more familiar it felt, He went into the boat first and his daughter followed after, she sat in one of the seats watching him pull out the anchor with a bit of stars help, after that he walked over to the drivers side and turned the keys, turning it on. Then turned the boat to face the lake and started driving it over to it. The more she sat there watching the water from behind creating the white ripples of thread through the water the more she senses this happened before..
🌙🌊🐋
After awhile of this he decided to stop in the middle of the lake somewhere, placed the anchor back down into the waters and proceeded to grab a fishing rod and his notebook, Jolyne went over a bit closer to him and looked around the place, the sky was finally on its usual blues and seagulls flew above them chattering on and on, about what nobody seems to know. she looked over the edge and held on the railings while Jotaro casted the line and placed the rod in the holder he put on the side and stood next to her, enjoying a moment of silence hearing nothing but the waves moving the boat, the birds and the small breeze that flowed effortlessly, it’s a natural thing that happens all the time yet it’s so refreshing to feel; Along with the boat rocking back and forth ever so slightly.
“Jolyne, do you remember this?..”
he asked in a mellow and understand tone, she looked up and didn’t respond for a moment trying to think of what he meant until she realized where she was.
“It, feels familiar..” she looked down at the boat trying to revisit the details she saw before, memories started to flow back the moment she thought about it,
“wait.. is this the boat you took me on when I was little? you kept it this whole time?”
“Hmm.. it is, I kept it for quite some time, something told me that I would need it later.”
“.. wow dad, I never thought of it like that, it’s like you had something to remind you of me this whole time.”
“Well of course, I never haven’t thought about my family, I always cherished you and I’m sorry that it took so long to say that. I knew it was wrong of me to leave you and you’re mother like that.”
“are you apologizing? I mean, after what we been through, I can see now.” She crossed her arms and rested them on the railing resting her head on them.
“Like, at first I was mad at you, I was for a long time, leaving me and my mother like that, even when I was sick you didn’t show up, I was angry and a bit sad, thought you didn’t care, too focused on your job to even bother checking up on us. But, I understand now, there was lots going on, The enemies, The priest we had to stop, heck even some of the stories you told me of having to travel across the desert to fight for your life the whole time.. you, wanted to protect us and the ones you loved even if it costed you you’re happiness and having to leave us for the time you had.”
He watched her the whole time as she spoke and noticed she was trying not to cry, remembering how long he was gone and the events they both went through two years ago, “Jolyne..”
he let out softly and wrapped one arm around her shoulder, She knew that was his way of showing sympathy for her, She rested her head against him as some tears began to form but didn’t fully fall down quite yet,
“I know we missed quite a lot, and nowadays time is usually hard to find, but with every chance I get I want to make up for the time we lost, this is why I woke you up this morning, thought you’d like that.”
Jolyne smiled slightly, wiped her eyes and looked at him.
“yeah, this was nice, Glad you did.. do you think we could go to those silly little father daughter things?”
He smiled and held her close,
“I wouldn’t mind if that’s what you’d want”
They both eventually went into a hug for a moment, it was an awkward yet soft moment that brought comfort and closure that they both needed, the feeling of working towards the happiness you’ve after finally arrives, staying there for a moment, they were so focused on the moment that they didn’t fully notice the rod going up and down, with splashing coming from the water below,
“Umm dad I think you need to turn around.” Doing what she said he had a somewhat surprised look in his eyes seeing that he caught something, parting from the hug he rush over and started reeling it in, the fish however wasn’t so compliant of that and started to fight it, stretching and tightening the string of the rod, However it didn’t take long for him to quickly pull the rod upwards and the fish flew out of the water to be reeled in and lightly placed within the giant bin filled with water that was often used to store cold drinks and ice, he crouched down and examined the fish that was rushing around the bin before slowly slowing down yet still wanted to be back in the lake.
“that’s one feisty fish huh?”
Her father hummed in response.
“from the looks of them it could be a spotted bass, usually common here-“
he brought out his notebook and wrote in it assuming to be writing about the fish,
“it’s pretty big too I don’t usually see ones as large as that.”
She slightly snickered at his comment on the fish, he slightly turned around wondering what his daughter is so amused about
“that’s what she said” trying to hold in her laughter but failed miserably finding something as small as that to be hilarious, he just stared at her with a deadpanned look, Jolyne got embarrassed forgetting her friends aren’t with them but ended up laughing a bit more, her dad still somewhat not getting what she meant and was confused until he finally figured it out, he proceeded to look away from her while she still laughed at bit at his reaction,
“good grief.” He said under his breath, his daughter was in her twenty’s now but still acted like a young teenager.
“aww come on dad you gotta admit that was funny, come to think about it I don’t think I ever seen you laugh”
“I don’t laugh.”
“Come on not even a snicker, a small chuckle even?”
Despite the immature joke he slightly smiled at how silly this whole moment was
“just shut it and help me put the fish back into the lake” he let out, not in a bit a harsh tone but a soft and laid back one, enjoying his time with her.
“Of course, don’t wanna let my old man do it by himself”
“I thought I told you not to call me that”
“I mean it’s better than ol’ geezer”
“Yare Yare I’m not even that old”
“Dad.. your 42, you still look at cassettes pretty sure your old”
“I’ll toss you off the boat if you keep this up”
Jolyne laughed at the moment,
“pfff you wouldn’t”
“I would, you gonna take that back? Nows your chance.”
“nah I don’t think you have it in ya”
📦🌾🌊
“Dad I can’t believe you actually done that.” She lets out unamused as she walks on the dock draping a towel over herself, Jotaro lets out a small chuckle at that and then Jolyne looked up at him surprised at hearing what she just heard.
“well I couldn’t just sit there and take it”
she lightly smiled,
“alright who are you and what did you do to my father?”
They both got off the dock and proceeded to walk back home, despite Jolynes mother not being around He still loved his daughter very much and even though moments like these were rare he appreciated every moment of it. Returning home hoping to spend more time together to make up for what he missed, being glad to have this second chance.
