first and foremost i think it's wrong gojo died content like bitch get the hell up get your GAY ass back in the game RN 😭 nothing was accomplished with gojo's death. he didn't kill sukuna he didn't take back megumi. i don't think there's anything wrong with gojo dying but i do think it's wrong knowing he died forcing all of the burden to the kids instead of passing it on. and he wasn't even WORRIED ABOUT THEM? gojo's worry about not telling megumi about his father is so unfounded like SIR is megumi even going to COME back? who is saving him 😭😭😭 like i don't see this as gojo passing the baton to the younger gen i see it as an abrupt meaningless death for the shock factor. don't tout a character as the strongest if you're not going to make him win the one meaningful battle that actually matters???? gojo could've easily just been the mentor. or Some Guy. not The Strongest.

all that being said i would've preferred gojo died after defeating sukuna. it could've ended in a draw with both of them dying but megumi coming back. at least something would've came out of it. he should've died telling megumi he killed his father. i think it's wrong akutami robbed them of that moment. or if gojo was never going to win he should've died before the manga declared him as victor!?!? like that's so lame 👎 he should've addressed the kids in his final moments and the after life sequence should've come sometime later with gojo acknowledging that they're strong enough to hold their own (not like the way he did when he was cubed). i also think it's SUPER wrong that gojo dies without acknowledging the students at all. like these kids are literally his life mission. he cultivated them he raised them (megumi) and he's just going to....die without even saying or thinking anything about them? instead he's out here waxing poetics about not being able to give sukuna a fight where he could go all out 😭😭😭😭 it's all WRONG

for the people saying gojo should've just been permanently injured/sidelined I think ultimately death was the better option because imo nothing would've satisfied gojo short of death. he's been looking for an all in fight his entire life!!! he got it!!! he knew there was only going to be one survivor. he said it himself he's glad it wasn't old age. I still think it should've been kenjaku though smh now THAT would've been yaoi

also if gojo's death was meant to reiterate the pointlessness and futility of everything it should've at least done that. it didn't even do that.

if akutami was going to kill tsumiki off anyway then the narrative should've afforded her the care to at least give her a backstory outside of megumi's thoughts and flashbacks like god. how could you do that to her. HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO HER.

anyway i was thinking a little more about gojo's death chapter and the idea of faith/belief in jujutsu kaisen and how maybe gojo's enlightenment and peace in death is linked to having faith in the younger gen in a way that parallels nanami's faith in yuuji when he died

I think it's pretty realistic that a lot of the character deaths in jjk are meaningless, I think it was supposed to be like this since the beginning.

ummmm i gotta disagree with you there there's a difference between meaningless deaths that actually make an impact on the reader and meaningless deaths where the writing is sloppy. keep in mind this is a story and naturally the narrative should align with the themes that the manga has presented us with. just because a person dies a meaningless death doesn't mean it should be meaningless to the narrative. it needs to be worth something.

I mean yeah i get it that Gojo needs to make some space in order for Yuuji's character to grow.. but i keep thinking that these MCDs that Gege pulled is just him being a lazy writer. So much potential in a character and Gege chose to make them drop dead. I agreed with you when you said chara exploration is not Gege's thing.

ummmmm I think people are being a little biased (nothing wrong with that) towards gojo since he's such a well liked popular character like this isn't the first death akutami has badly fumbled and it probably won't be the last. I've been talking about how akutami has been dropping the ball since the shibuya arc. I hope people see gojo's death as a bad thing not because they think it's horrible gojo died and are equating that to bad writing but because its been a downwards trend in akutami's writing. like I see a lot of ppl decrying the chapter as bad writing not because of the circumstances of gojo's death but because gojo died. like we knew it was coming did akutami not say it was either gojo or the kids? I talk a lot about the distinctions between what makes a death meaningless and what makes a death bad in story telling. you can have meaningless meaningful deaths if that makes sense....or make bad deaths meaningful....but akutami's really never been good at that. the way akutami writes death cheapens it and considering a lot of the themes revolving around the manga involve death and the meaning in which you choose to live your life....I think it could be portrayed better....

like I'm sorry for a story that narratively wanted to focus on grief and the struggle of survival and living despite it all akutami is quite literally giving us nothing about how the students or even gojo has reacted to the deaths of so many people. the gravity just isn't there. yes we're supposed to feel relieved gojo is out of the box and there's a certain sense of oh it's all going to be alright but to the extent that everyone's just joking around??? not even bringing up the sacrifices people made to be there?? is this even the same jjk from the first couple of arcs anymore 😭
