The team are raiding an unsub's house and decide to split up but the unsub manages to corner JJ and shoots her, causing her to fall down the stairs behind her. JJxHotch

AN: Interesting prompt, I’ve never written that pairing before, I hope you like it.

It all happened so fast.

It had been a routine raid of an UnSub’s house; the house seemed clear and as Aaron, Emily and Rossi took the downstairs, Morgan checked the basement and Reid and JJ had taken the stairs. Reid reached the top of the stairs first and turned down the hall. JJ reached the top but before she could follow Reid, the unsub emerged from the bedroom behind JJ and shot at her. JJ’s cry of pain was followed by a gunshot from Reid as JJ felt her injured leg give way and she tumbled down the stairs.

“JJ!” Aaron yelled as he and Emily raced to the bottom of the stairs. Aaron took JJ’s hand and supported her head as Emily put pressure on her leg. Rossi called for a medic as Reid watched from the top of the stairs, pale-faced and Morgan hurried up from the basement with their last victim. JJ was barely conscious but reached up and smiled at Aaron.

“I’m OK, it just hurts a bit.” JJ reassured Aaron, it wasn’t that deep a wound. The bullet didn’t exit her leg and that was hopefully a good thing, as long as no arteries had hit.

“Are you sure?” Aaron asked as he looked at her eyes. She was probably concussed but she wasn’t bleeding from the head. The stairs had been carpeted as had the floor. Small comfort.

“Sure, just stay with me.” JJ said and Aaron squeezed her hand as the medics arrived.

“Of course,” Aaron replied as the EMTs took over. Emily allowed them to tend to JJ’s leg and Aaron kept a hold of her hand as the EMTs lifted her onto a strecther. Emily looked at Rossi as she quickly washed her hands. It looked like they were right. There was more to JJ and Hotch’s relationship than they thought.

Who made the first move; jj did. They both knew they had feelings for each other, and hotch wanted to make a move, but as per usual he had no game. He ended up saying something really sweet without trying and jj kissed him. 

Who said ‘I love you’ first; Hotch. It wasn’t until they had been dating for awhile, and they both feared using that word for the first time, but Hotch wanted to get it out in the open because damn if he didn’t love jennifer jareau. 

How often they fight; Not very often, but when they do it’s like all of the little things imploding on them. It starts with something about a case, but then it blows up into,  “jj if you could just pick up your clothes off this floor or c’mon babe why do you need 10 sports channels…” or “aaron why did you spend money on another suit, you only have like 500 already, or you history nerd stop erasing my trash tv with your documentaries about WWII”. 

Whose big spoon/little spoon; they take turns. Everyone knows being the little spoon is the best because you feel protected and safe, so jj makes sure hotch gets to be the protected instead of the protector after a long hard week, and hotch does the same for jj. 

What their nicknames are for each other; jj prefers nothing but jj, those petnames aren’t her thing, but she won’t roll her eyes too much at the cast away, babe or hon. Hotch, on the other hand is okay with the HOT- chner jj tosses around. 

Whose the better cook; Depends on what is being made. JJ is queen of homemade pizzas and she will brag your ears off about her macaroni salad. Hotch makes a mean lasagna and he likes to claim he can BBQ better than anyone on the east coast. 

Their song; Maybe I’m Amazed - Jem. JJ had to attend some wedding for some extended family member she only slightly remembered and invited hotch to be her date. They danced to this song, and it’s when jj realized she really did have feelings for her boss man, accompanied by the oh crap butterflies. 

Who remembers their anniversaries; hotch. jj swears she will remember next year (and even plans to put it in her phone, day planner, every calender she owns) but every year she somehow forgets, and makes another promise to herself to remember, until one year she finally remembers but a case takes them away. She made sure to make it up to Hotch though. 

Their favorite thing to do together (besides sex); Once jj learnt hotch could actually run a triathlon and not die, she invited him to running dates. It was a great stress reliever and hotch learnt just how competitive the Pennsylvania petite could get.  He swears he just didn’t wear the right shoes everytime jj left him in the dust. 

Who ‘wears the pants’ in the relationship; they both do, have you seen the nice clothes they get put in each week. 

How they would get engaged; Que Rossi catching wind of Hotch’s plan and somehow getting the whole team involved until Garcia accidentally lets it slip and jj being more okay with just responding with a simple yes, instead of a big extravagant proposal.  

What their wedding would be like; Nothing to fancy or exquisite. They would ask Dave for his backyard and Mansion, not house, and Dave being the fairy godmother he is would put together something he feels fits both jj and aaron’s taste, complete with the whole team, past and present, and cheetos for the bride. 

How many kids they’ll have; They talked about kids once, and if they wanted a child that was both of them, but decided against it. They also weighed the idea of adoption but decided Henry and Jack were good enough for them.

Send Me A Ship And I’ll Say Who:

leaves their dirty clothes on the floor: jj. It's not that she means to be messy, it just happens. However, she sets aside time on her days off to clean their room unless hotch has gotten to them first. 

forgets to run the dish washer: Neither of them. It's usually left up to who gets around to it first. 

pumps gas for the car:  They take turns. JJ sneaks the occasional tank of gas for Hotch, and Hotch for jj,  much to their dismay. They're both stubborn in that accord. 

drives when they’re going somewhere: JJ. Hotch gets increasingly frustrated with traffic, and would prefer shortcuts. JJ loves the long drives. She isn't too bothered by the traffic, or not as much as hotch. 

rearranges the furniture:

falls asleep with the TV on: jj. She'll come home from a case, and try and catch up on her shows that she pvr'd, but ends up zonking out on the couch. 

gets to use the bathroom first: Hotch. He's usually up first anyways. 

decides the temperature for the ac/heater: compromise. 

sets up holiday decorations: depends which holiday. Christmas was a fave holiday of jj's, and she has some decorations she made with ros that she likes to put up. Hotch likes decortating for Halloween, although jj helps. 

leaves the lights on:  jj. She swears she shut off the lights and that it just got stuck, but Hotch begs to differ. 

uses the bathroom with the door open: neither. 

fixes the plumbing (or calls the plumber): hotch tries, but usually succumbs to letting jj handle it, or taking the phone when jj smirkly hands it to him.

I fell asleep, so I’m picking up where I left off here.

Jotch (JJ/Hotch):

my thoughts: Jotch is amazing. That sums it all up. 

what makes me happy about them: I’m a sucker for little cute moments, and for Jotch, there is an abundance of them (but fewer than I would like them to have). Eye sex I love how they always support one another even though they don’t say it.

what makes me sad about them: that they weren’t canon, but Will and JJ are my OTP too, so that’s still bittersweet. But mostly the fact that there really weren’t sweet moments after JJ came back in S7. 

things done in fanfic that annoys me: to be honest, I have never read a Jotch fic, so do send me some! I’m open!

things I look for in fanfic: as usual, I love fics with nice characterisation, and for Jotch ones, probably pre-Will ones would be cool, but again, I’m very open. 

who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I’m cool with Hotch ending up with Beth. Honestly, I’m happy if Hotch is happy, but I do think JJ is compatible with Hotch. As for JJ, I’m super comfortable with Will, especially since they have Henry!

my happily ever after for them: woah, this is tough. Probably that JJ will help Hotch move on and find happiness, and maybe open up more. They’d be kick-ass parents, to be honest, and Henry and Jack would be the cutest brothers ever. I can just imagine Jack being the protective big brother, and Henry being that super jovial kid all day, everyday. 

who is the big spoon/little spoon: they take turns? But I’ll say maybe JJ’ll be the big spoon? I don’t know. 

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: hanging with the kids and going out for picnics. Maybe even just being normal parents that watch cartoons, even without the kids around.

Due to the lack of jotch scenes in 200...

Here are some Jotch scenes I need to see before the show ends (in the likelihood that their ship will never actually happen, I've tried to stick to friendship/colleagues scenes): The two discuss/flashback to their shared secret in season 6 and how they comforted/supported each other A scene with just the two of them and their boys - perhaps one was babysitting or they attend a kids event together, just something A scene where they talk about being parents in the BAU JJ being the strong one for Hotch like 'Risky Business' Hotch reassuring JJ again, like 'Birthright' The two of them talking about the changes in their friendship (perhaps addressing why we don't get many scenes between like we used to) A scene with just the two of them grabbing a coffee or having lunch, chatting One being a shoulder to cry on for the other JJ opening up to Hotch about all she went through and him opening up about Foyet to her An awkward Hotch, JJ and Cruz scene where they're both acting like alphas over her and JJ not taking any bs (ok this is the most shipper/fanfic one, other than wanting to see them both throw caution to the wind and get together...) JJ and Hotch having to work closer together on a case - anything from undercover, interrogation, stake out/surveillance etc - something which shows how in sync they are and perhaps could bond over and distinguish their friendship/partnerships from other friendships/partnerships on the show JJ helping Hotch look over some case files like the old days... Hotch fielding Will's calls like JJ did when Hayley used to ring (ok, another shipper one) More eyesex - whenever, wherever... Feel free to add, I'm sure there's more I want to see between jotch and just don't know it yet!

JJ and Hotch in CM9

If the writers have any sense, they'll never pair any team members with another romantically

That been said, if there's a need for more of a certain platonic pairing, we need more jotch in season 9.

Their scenes have been severely lacking since season 6. In season 6, JJ was in 3 episodes and 30 seconds of a fourth, and JJ and Hotch had some amazing scenes together, which showcased their bond.

In season 7 and 8 there has been very little shared scenes between them and disappointingly, when they do share a scene, lately it's completely case/profile related.  

I'm not asking for much, but in seasons 1-6, there was at least one episode, where JJ and Hotch had scenes that showed their mutual understanding and respect. Their conversations were never wholly personal. They've nearly always been related to coping with the job or dealing with emotions, but the last two seasons, I think there's only been the quick acknowledgment in 'There's No Place Like Home' where JJ wanted to be home with Henry, and JJ calling Hotch, 'Aaron' in the S7 finale, which even hinted that JJ shared a different friendship to other friendships on the show.

I'm not even asking for much in S9. Erica Messer knows that there is a bond between them, yet since she revealed that in an interview, it's never really been shown to the advantage it could be.

I love JJ/Hotch, but in S9 I'll be happy with them just pairing up more during cases and having one episode, where there's one scene, in which they talk about a) coping with the job, b) how JJ's handling being a profiler, c) one of them asking the other if they're alright.

Just something small.

Have JJ tell him about how she knows the new section chief guy. Have Hotch asking if something is bothering her, just something...

If I was shooting for the moon, I'd want the writers to look into the time JJ and Hotch kept this smallish secret from their colleagues who are supposedly like a family, about their dead friend actually being alive. I know it wasn't that big of a deal, because they never really talked about it, but it actually did happen and I'd like to see how JJ and Hotch dealt with that together. I'd like to see that JJ and Hotch kept in contact once JJ left the team and I'd like to see JJ being some kind of, secret confidant for Hotch or Hotch be JJ's go to person. I'd like to see how JJ's time as media liaison grew their friendship and made it more unique from the others, and how JJ was the one Hotch sent Jack to in 100, why Hotch pulled that face when he found out about her pregnancy, or just see them talk about the old days.

If I wanted to add my shipper tendencies into the mix, I'd want a reason to why they don't have many scenes with each other anymore, to be connected to the two of them getting too close, or how one of them stepped back when their relationships with Will or Beth stepped up a notch. I'd want Hotch to say it was best for Rossi to become JJ's mentor because he couldn't get anymore invested, or JJ went to Rossi and Morgan to allow him to move on with his life.

I just need more JJ/Hotch in season 9. Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Aaron Hotchner and Jennifer Jareau

Jennifer Jareau read the letter that her boss had wrote to her the night after they slept together a million times, if not more. She was anything but stupid...ok well she was so not wanting to believe that she was pregnant. She knocks on Hotch's door Saturday evening about two months after that night. "HOTCH! OPEN UP!"
