at first I got mad because the most ignorant started this train. But then I thought, wait a minute, because when I first saw the interview I did think hmm why would he pick RM before him? He does say Jimin’s name with a smile so he said his name in some context but given their history it doesn’t make sense for him to pick RM above him? Does it?? I did annoy me slightly too ngl because it just further adds to this narrative that they aren’t close or the closest and JK is fuelling thay?! I know that’s silly but low key true.
Then seeing this and I rolled my eyes but then I thought what if? What if he gave RMs name before he is the member he goes to, but of course Jimin isn’t just a member to him, Jimin is more?! That would actually make more sense to me. A bit like in the show when he said he misses the members and everyone made a big deal, again using it as a gotcha moment as I said, but again, Jimin clearly isn’t just a member. He is his person.
Does that make sense?
Mmmh this is very overanalyzing but I also do it more often than not so I won't blame you for it and still tell you my thoughts on this.
When he said RM first I didn't think he was picking RM "above" JM. Not at all.
To me he didn't say JM first because it would have appeared too eager and picking his friend the leader of the group first makes sense. Especially because the question was a "member" so JK thought of the members (but not Jimin first bcs Jimin is a member AND more) so he picked first a "normal" member he does share his worries with, RM, the leader.
And then adding JM like "and my boyfriend" (of course) (subtext) is natural and logical to me.
That's how I read it in the moment. I didn't think anything bad with it or questioned it like it didn't make sense he answered this way. To me it was normal.
If he said Jimin first and then RM it would have been a little too on the nose like?? And he wouldn't have said Jimin first because Jimin is not the person he thinks about first when they say "member" precisely because he is not *only* that.
To me he is just being smooth with his answer like keeping it casual

It would have been more surprising if he didn't mention Jimin at all but he did so for me it's all fine?

It's not because JK didn't give the answer exactly like people wanted it that it's not right 😭 it's perfectly right
To me for an interview and psychology standpoint it makes perfect sense how he answered this question
I hope people can be happy with what we got once again he didn't have to mention Jimin if he didn't want to and it's really great he did so let's CHILL (talking about people in general)
I hope my line of thinking makes it have more sense
