I think it is a financial decision which still sucks. If artists dont want to extend their dates, then they gotta make a choice which cities and venues to tour and Europe and US will be the first pick as the cost associated will be likely lower. But in a case of Louis for example, if he cant sale bigger venue in Europe and US, then he can make the money by having many more dates which let it be extended to South America. I am still shook how Taylor is just coming last year. it sucks tho yeah
