She had known for the longest time that there were things in this world you couldn’t quite comprehend nor explain, no matter how much you believed in the magic of logic and rationality. Didn’t she use to be one of these people as well? Hanna had grown up suppressing a side of hers that was supposedly not meant to exist but fast forward almost twenty years, and she was still here. Life worked in mysterious, odd, twisted ways that one mere human would never be completely capable of grasping but maybe it was better that way, too.
She oftentimes couldn’t help but wonder what mankind would do, the more they knew about a world that was hidden by a veil from everyone’s eyes. Knowledge was power and that statement was, at least in the brunette’s eyes, true to its very essence but that in itself didn’t necessarily reveal what humans would do, should they ever find out about the existence of something else among their peaceful selves. Thoughts, thoughts, so many thoughts Hanna wondered why she bothered so much with things that weren’t her business, even if she was part of the problem she was constantly thinking about.
A quick glance at the watch around her wrist revelead the late time. Her shift had ended only half an hour ago, and yet time seemed to move slower than it usually did. Was it because of the night? Something seemed off, even if Hanna couldn’t directly put a finger on it; she never liked being outside at this time of the day anyway. The darkness of the night seemed to have something awfully foreboding to it, and to a young woman this wasn’t exactly reassuring hence the feeling of anxiety beginning to creep up on Hanna.
Something wasn’t right.
The thought sent a shiver down her spine, hands curling into loose fists as she shoved them into the pockets of her jacket. Whatever this feeling was, she had to shake it off and get home as soon as possibly to calm herself down. Why was she reacting like this anyway? It must be the general fear of what lurked in the dark, of the unknown that scared her.
Time seemed to stand still, and she wasn’t sure why. Her feet came to an abrupt halt as her gaze lingered on something in the distance, maybe in the way her surroundings and the entire atmosphere seemed to change without her being capable of exactly pinpointing what exactly was going wrong. So she kept looking in silence, before a quiet, barely audible question escaped parted lips. ❝What is happening?❞
jolly ol’ fool, m&m&j
He has to double check to see if he has everything in order, a giant bag full of Christmas ornaments laying in the corner of his apartment room, a few bags of assorted chips (the low fat veggie kind because Minako apparently likes her food low carbs – but like, why did that even matter, it’s a party, one is supposed to have fun at parties; but he says nothing in fear of getting a slap to the face and out the window or something, and keeping in mind that he lives on the sixth floor means a drop from his room will land in a painful death – or broken ribs galore), two bottles of pop (because how much are they going to drink, honestly?), and a gingerbread house ready to be built and decorated. It’s going to be messy, he can just see it now, because Minato is boring as hell and he’s got it in him to change the boy if he has to. Minako and Junhong really has work cut out for them this season because a smile on that boy’s face has to be a thing. He made a mental note as a New Years resolution earlier this year to bring a smile on Minato’s lonely features that doesn’t look forced or tiny as heck. He’s pretty sure Minako feels the same.
Junhong’s eyes dart to the looming pine tree that’s sitting next to the window, and ponders for a minute if that had been the right choice. Originally he wanted to get a plastic one, but that’s not really authentic for the season, no? And besides, it’s always more legit if it’s the actual tree. It might be a pain later to get rid of all the needles but for now he’ll enjoy it and he’s hoping his friends will, too. There’s always room for fun even if the aftermath resulted in many hardships to come. He takes a quick look through the bag of ornaments, pulling out streamers, stickers, and balloons, and colors after colors of different decorations. He’s not going to decorate the entire place by himself and after much consideration on texting his friends to haul their butts over to help him (Minato, quit playing your dumb game and get over here, MINAKO, ISTG IF YOU’RE NOT HERE IN TEN MINUTES…), he finally does. After dusting off his hands for a job well done, he gets on his knees and pulls out the presents he’s been putting off. One for Minato, one for Minako. He grins as he wraps up the two gifts, putting them behind the Christmas tree and out of eye’s view before he’s jolted from his train of thought.
The doorbell! Junhong scurries to the door, swinging it open with a wide smile on his lips, eyes twinkling with excitement. He’s actually surprised they found his place considering they’re foreigners in a land that’s not exactly their birthplace but hey, as long as they’re here, he’s in no place to complain. Junhong lets the brunette in with mild confusion striking across his features. He pokes his head out to see if Minato’s out there, brooding as usual, but sees nothing. He closes the door and purses his lips, stepping back inside, following Minako. “You didn’t come with Minato?” he asks, pulling out a pair of slippers for the female. “By the way, I got the chips you wanted. We’re eating healthy tonight, I guess—”
march 31, m&a
There’s a nice cool air as soon as he steps out of the mall, both hands occupied by the numerous bags of holiday gifts. Junhong awkward checks the time on his wrist, his phone tucked safely in his bag because the last time he had it in his pocket, it got stolen right out. It’s a little past lunch and there’s a few hours more before he has to meet up with his friend, but until then he’s free for the afternoon. Which is rare… considering his schedules as of late. He packs his things into his car, shutting the trunk with a satisfied smile before getting in and leaving for home. It’s around ten minutes into the next hour does he realize that he’s supposed to be meeting up with Jungkook and that thought jolts him straight out of his reverie and straight into panic because he’s almost an hour late. His phone is still stowed safely away in his bag, forgetting to check it when he returned home, but now that he takes the time to think about it, there was a low rumbling noise coming from said bag… His face grows paler by the second and he jumps from his seat, fingers fumbling into his knapsack to fish out his phone. He swipes it open and finds himself face-to-face with three missed calls and about a dozen unread messages. Well, rip.
Junhong reminds himself that people make mistakes, and Jungkook is a forgiving character so he won’t be mad if he called back now, right? Or maybe he should show up at their scheduled meeting spot instead? Either way has him sweating with guilt as his fingers numbly dial his friend’s number, dreading the seconds that pass with the dial tone. “Ah, Jungkookie? I’m sorry for getting to you late--” he practices through the ringing. But doesn’t that sound stupid? Or at least lame… He’s about to try again, when the other side picks up and a hello sends him fearful and guilty; his mind is coming up with stupid excuses faster than he makes a grab for food. “Yeah—I uh, I might’ve forgotten our date.” Rip to him.

"I'm not saying that you can't reach the top of the tree to put on the star...but you could just ask for help."

——— YES, SHE WAS VERY PLEASED with the way her arrangement of the variations of baubles had turned out. The number of dark red ones and see-through ones with glittery golden patterns was even and the little golden stars that she’d sprinkled throughout the tree matched the other ornaments perfectly. The only thing that was still missing was the big star she’d bought for the top. She took it out of its box carefully and climbed the ladder again, only to find that the ladder was a bit too short for such a huge tree. With a frown plastered on her face se balanced on the top step and stretched really far. There had to be a way of putting that star on top, the tree wasn’t complete without it. ❝I’m–okay, kookie! I can do this! Somehow…❞ With much effort she tried to kind of toss it where it was supposed to go, that only caused her to lose her balance into the other direction, but thankfully she managed to get her balance back, letting out a sigh of relief before giving him a thumbs up.
