I think I've recommended this author somewhere before, but if anyone wants to read about a human/AI partnership with definite KR vibes, Jo Callaghan has created AIDE (Artificial Intelligence Detective Entity) Lock and DSC Kat Frank, who are partnered together to form the 'FPU' or Future Policing Unit in Warwickshire, UK. Lock is connected to Kat through a wristband she wears and appears as a hologram, which would have been quite cool for KITT too, now I think about it! She is uncomfortable with the alliance, and insists that 'it is an it, not a he' (where have we heard that before?), but Lock grows and learns from Kat, and is soon answering back and developing a sense of humour. In Leave No Trace, he also asks to be referred to as a 'he', because his hologram is male in appearance, and requests that Kat not deactivate the hologram without asking. Obviously I'm in love!
