this place is kinda cool / jo + celia
Celia didn’t mind the five mile walk to and from school (Tess kept telling her that she’d drive her, but Celia felt that it was probably safer to walk than to get into the car with any of her sisters behind the wheel. She was sure that they’d eventually get the hang of it, but for now ... she was going to walk) but it was so quiet. There were long stretches where it was just her and trees and the road and sometimes she wouldn’t even see another car. She’d actually taken to going a slightly less direct route that was more populated because the silent walks with just her and her thoughts was slightly unsettling.
She’d passed this nursery a few times before, but she’d never had the urge to actually stop before today. To be honest, she wondered what the fuss was all about -- everyone was literally surrounded by plants and nature everywhere, why would you need to buy more?
But when she stepped into the greenhouse, she saw why. These plants were different: some were certainly exotic but even the ones that weren’t seemed to grow larger and have more vibrant colors. It almost felt like stepping onto another world.
Hearing footsteps behind her, Celia turned to see a young woman with red hair, “Hey. This place is kinda cool. I’ve never seen roses like that before ... I mean, except in photoshopped pictures.”
