Stevie was diagnosed with lower hock arthritis today (aka bone spavin) :(
We're going to try conservative management first by getting her on Equioxx, in a grazing muzzle so she loses weight, and incorporating lots of hand walking into our routine, then see how she's feeling.
The vet believes it's the result of a congenital defect given her other wonky conformation - she was likely born prematurely or undercooked. On one hand it's nice to finally identify the issue that's been plaguing us, but on the other hand I hate knowing she's been hurting for likely the majority of her life. Luckily she has a good prognosis and I'm crossing my fingers that changing our habits and adding pain meds will make a world of difference for her
