Inherent Vice
A few weeks have passed since I am actually posting this review, but I want to still mention that Inherent Vice was part of an absolute power movie weekend.
Inherent Vice on Friday
Whiplash on Saturday
Selma on Sunday
Now, I really have a hard time finding the fitting words for this movie. I think complicated, weird, long on the one hand and groovy and fun on the other hand would be the most…

When Herzog Rescued Phoenix (by sciezata77)
Werner Herzog witnesses a car crash. Joaquin Phoenix is the driver. Joaquin attempts to light a cigarette.
Werner: Man, relax.
Joaquin (calmly): I am relaxed.
Werner: No, you are not.
Gasoline is dripping throughout the car. Werner confiscates the lighter. Now it's time to crush the rear window and pull Joaquin out. No need to thank him. Werner jumps in his car and drives off.
I think the bottom line is the poet must not avert his eyes. You have to take a bold look at what is your environment and what is around you. Even the ugly things. Even the decadent things.
-- Werner Herzog, Jan 2007
