Finding a Passion... That’s Not Work
“[A] recent study found that young people rank achieving their career passion as their highest priority — above making money or getting married. Finding a fulfilling job was deemed nearly three times more important than having a family by the teenage respondents. But, for many people, this simply isn’t feasible. Not every job affords the possibility of pursuing a passion. And most people care deeply about many different things — not all of which will be how they want to earn a living.”
“While pursuing passion at work is known to increase work engagement and job performance, it’s both unrealistic and risky to rely on work as the only means through which to do so. Some jobs don’t allow employees to focus on their interests, and the jobs that do aren’t always financially viable. In some regards, following and finding passion at work could be seen as a luxury for the privileged few — those who can afford to choose exactly the right professions.”
“Managers play a crucial role in helping employees achieve all of this. Although people might want to take up a new hobby or class or participate in a club, it’s often hard to do so when work hours are long or unpredictable work and bosses expect complete dedication to the job.”

... a true hobby, not a side hustle
“As Tim Wu wrote [In Praise of Mediocrity] for the New York Times, ‘we're afraid of being bad at [hobbies]. Or rather, we are intimidated by the expectation — itself a hallmark of our intensely public, performative age — that we must actually be skilled at what we do in our free time.’”

Holding these useless and corrupt career politicians accountable for their incompetence is long overdue.
Holding career politicians accountable when the districts they serve are filthy and show no signs of improving, isn’t that what a president should do? In any other job, you’re held accountable for your job performance. In the real world, both Elijah Cummings and Nancy Pelosi would have been fired by now. The left is outraged that President Trump has spoken out publicly via Twitter about the filthy conditions of Baltimore (Elijah Cummings) and San Francisco (Nancy Pelosi). Instead of how the left plans to improve both cities, they will instead focus indefinitely on the gall of President Trump to call them out on the sorry conditions of both. At this point, I’d expect nothing less.
⭐!!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot anon!
This fic Job Performance is one of the better written ones that I have, imo (haha most of the other ones are... not). I wrote it bc I.. wanted to write gore. But then it kinda turns into something kind of serious.
The YJ kids are kids. I just think, like, what if they see a corpse? An actual corpse? Like even if say, a person isn’t killed so gruesomely (as in severed limbs, skewered abdomen, idk use your imagination) — it’s a dead body, alright. And dead bodies are scary as shit.
So I thought — what if they encounter something like this? Because this is their line of work. And Dick, unfortunately, has seen this kinda shit far, far too often for a kid — not to mention a kid that saw (in the YJ verse) his whole family fell to their deaths.
I put Wally in bcs I feel like Dick on some levels is desensitized to gore and violence (maybe in a sad attempt to cope, who knows?) but seeing Wally, his best friend, react so strongly to a crime scene forces him out of that headspace. It kind of slaps him in this kind of way like, “yeah, that’s actually not normal. Corpses ARE fucked up. Me seeing this is fucked up.”
I want to point out how screwed up the whole thing is. Esp Dick knowing procedurals and forensics stuff at his age. I didn’t want it to be too much of a pity fest, but I kinda failed on that aspect.
But tbh: Dick deserves the acknowledgement of how absolutely messed up this whole Robin gig is from his teammates.
