jodem: i like this theory, but i feel like the starks having dark skin wouldn't make sense for biological reasons. they're so far north that they'd need the extra vitamin D that having white skin provides. perhaps they're more inuit-like though? i believe inuits have darker skin (or not pasty white anyway), dark eyes, and dark hair!!
Well think about it: if the Dorthraki were in the North for 4,000 years do you think they would develop white skin just because of the climate? The Inuit are a good example of having darker skin despite the arctic climate. Obviously marriage with Andals would introduce lighter skin into the bloodline but any family with the blood of the First Men would have the darker skin.
I don’t know if First Men had incredibly dark skin, but at least a natural tan.
